I would like to get a copy of my cousin's obituary. She died December 18, 1981 in Thonotosassa, Florida. Her name was Nealie Squires. I assume it would be in the Tampa Tribune. Thanks in advance for your help. Janie Bartels
Does anyone have any information on the original Gordon Keller School of Nursing which began in 1910 at the Gordon Keller Memorial Hospital? My grandmother is supposed to have graduated from the first graduating class and I have not been able to find any records. Any help will be appreciated. Carole raycare@bellsouth.net

I found on the 1870 census (Hillsbourgh Co. FL) a 96 year old Samuel Cox and his wife Elizabeth 76 years old. Samuel said he was born in North Carolina and Elizabeth said she was born in South Carolina. Can you tell me anything about this family. My G-Grandfather David Cox was living beside them with some Colsons'. He was a farm labor he was 16 years old. I would like to know there relationship. This was the 1870 census of Hillsbourgh CO in Florida. Samuel Cox 1804- + Elizabeth 1824- I am also interested in any info on David Cox 1854-1947, wife Theodosia 1860- children Samuel, John, James, Mollie, Ruby, Matilda and Edith. Thanks, Tommy
My ROBERTS grandfather died in Manatee County in 1925. On his death certificate and also in his obit it says he was buried in the Hopewell Cemetery, Tampa. I've been to the one in Tampa on Kennedy Blvd. and to the one in Plant City and cannot find him. My mother told me he had a "Woodmen of the World" headstone and I vaguely remember seeing it as a child but I don't know where it was. Was there another Hopewell Cemetery that has changed names? Thanks for any help you can give me. Janie

Hi all, I have more Hills. and Hernando Census records and Hernando Marriage book 1 records to transcribe. I remember that people wanted to help this month and sent me messages asking for first chance, I cleaned out the inbox this week and the delete finger got to fast, so I lost those offers of help. Please holler again. If you haven't read alot of census and handwritten documents, volunteer for only a couple of pages of census records, so you don't get too frustrated with the handwritting. I want to thank all that have helped with this. There still seems to be a mountain of pages to go. Thanks Deborah Byrd

Joan, Woodlawn is "maintained" by the City of Tampa Parks Department. Maintenance consists of mowing the grass when and if there is time. They cemeteries have low priority. Woodlawn is an older cemetery and is pretty full. I'm sure there are still some spaces left, however. There isn't any single funeral home that would be a primary user. I hope that gives you some perspective. Joan, Many of my relatives are buried at Woodlawn. When my father died, I made an inquiry as to available plots, and there were none. This was in 1986. I hope this info. helps. Cheryl Sanchez-Sivers

Deborah Byrd, You are absolutely correct! We have a number of bridges linking to two cities, that are gridlocked everyday. My own family has done this commuting, at most times half of us lived on one side and worked on the other, and vice versa. So thanks for your input. Barb- Tampa Bay Area (not in the Bay)
I too have hit the proverbial BRICK WALL in researching my Roberts ancestors. My ggrandfather William Henry ROBERTS was born abt 1840 in either the Bahamas or Key West, FL. Don't know his parents names. He was married in Key West, FL to Elisabeth (don't have last name). They had several children, I have the names of three of them Armenia (Minnie) b. 1860, Claude b. 1862 and Michael b. 1866. I found this information in the 1870 census records for Monroe County. His second wife was my ggrandmother and they show up in the 1880 census for Franklin County, FL. My grandfather, A.W. ROBERTS, was 3 years old at that time. At some point they moved to Hillsborough County, Tampa, FL. and died there about 1920. If anyone has a connection to this ROBERTS line, I would love to hear from you. Janie
Hi listmembers - Just want you all to know that I now have a complete death date for Herbert William NEED due to the voluntary search of Yvonne. It is June 17, 1987!! And I want to thank all of you who were kind to send me all kinds of URLs for getting an obit. I can now do that with a complete death date. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much...Venee
II believe that the list is aware of the number of requests posted for help with obituaries. I also get them directly. So I have come up with an idea that should prove helpful to those trying to get copies. I would like to add to the genweb page the names and addresses: email, land and url of the Hills. county papers that carry obits. And the papers that are in St. Pete. From the few obits posted in GenConnect it appears that some people lived on one side of the bay and churched on the other. Thanks for the help. Deborah Byrd
