    3. Suzanne, A couple thoughts. Keep in mind the holdings at the USF Library, if you have time. Tampa Library-Park on the second floor of the parking garage next to the library and take the walkway over to the library. Cheapest and safest parking. Microfilm readers take quarters/Photocopier will take any change. Change for copies is sometimes unavailable at the desk or change machine. Resources are on the second floor, the librarians and volunteer are VERY helpful. Complete census records, extensive local and state histories, genealogies, etc. Courthouse-Pay the parking meter quarters!!! Its about 5-6 blocks from the library parking if your into walking. Again, the employees are extremely helpful in all the records departments. If you need copies of wills, MANY are not on microfilm and the original files are stored off site. You need to request these and it takes 24 hours for them to be retrieved from offsite storage. 3. I am writing this to the list because so many wonderful people have written to me it would be hard to write each one of you back and answer each one seperately. I went on some of the leads that I was given and did not find who I was looking for. A couple of phone calls led me to a cousin who I have never met who lives in Plant City. My dad had listed them in the Plant City Cemetery, my wonderful Atlas program led me astray, and according to my cousin neither of those were correct. He states that they are buried in the Oakland Cemetery which is at the intersection of I-4 and highway 39. This cemetery is supposed to be in two parts and Some are buried in both parts. The only one who is not to be found is Isaac Copeland (1871-1936). His wife Lettie and son Gordon are buried at Oakland. I thank all of you who have helped collectively to get me to this end. My wife and I will be staying at the Days Inn right there at the cemetery and I look forward to visiting your area. I will have to return one day since my paternal grandmother (Glass) had a relative to move there and some of that family still lives in the Tampa area. So long for now. Thanks again. 3. Hello List, I have just signed on and have A Hillsborough County connection from a way back. I am a Zeigler researcher and some of my family surnames in your area are Zeigler, Copeland, Valentine, Howell, Lightsey, Hudson and Glass. I am to be in Plant City this weekend and will need to visit the Memorial Gardens Cemetery which is near I-4. It looks like a large one and I am not sure just where my folks are buried in there. I only have one day there so if anyone knows a quick fix on how to locate them I would certainly appreciate some input. I will also be in Dade City, another county, for a reunion of sorts and will visit a couple of cemeteries there. I think they will not be quite so large. Anyone with info on these surnames please contact me. 3. Just to let everyone know who is searching for sites in Garden of Memories. You can call 1-800-392-3646, ask for Customer Service and give them the name of the person you are looking for the site for and they will look it up and tell you.. Sometimes they may have to call you back, but most of the time they can do it while you wait a few minutes. They can't send you a map, but if you go there, you can go to the office and they will give you one as well as take you to the site. I have did this a couple of time recently, Flo Suit N Central FL.

    2. Carole, The school was located next to the now "Tampa General Hospital," on the southside of the building. They had a dormitory, and the rules back then were very strict. I am not sure but, I think the school was run by Hillsborough Community College. I do know that HCC ended up taking it over, and still uses part of the building. I had a few friends that went to school there but, unfortunately they are now deceased. 3. I have ordered several over the past few years, and it has always been $5.00. So, if they upped the ante, I'm not aware of it, not have they sent me anything stating differently. Next time you order try the $5.00 amount and see if goes through. 3. RE: Land records and etc in Tampa and FL Well, maybe I just got lucky. On March 10, I ordered THREE for my g-grandparents and send a check for $15.00. 3. You will have to order your death certificate from Jax. The counties do not have them as they are recorded with the state. The address is Vital Statistics, P.O. Box 210, Jacksonville, FL. 32231-0042. Some records date back to 1877, but most date from Jan. 1917. Send check or mo for $5.00 with persons name, dob, and where born, dod, and where, parents names ( if available) and your relationship to the deceased. Takes about 3 weeks. Hope this helps. 3. This may or may not help. But......Hillsborough county has their property tax info on line. By putting in the address you are looking for, or even the street number, you might be able to find the tax i.d. number of the property. Its bound to help in the long run. 1. [FLHILLSB-L] Re: Sharon's questions...
    2. Hi Sharon, Q #1: Yes the courthouse is where the deeds are kept. First floor; I think it's room 195. The greeter can point you to them. He's my cousin Ralph... say hi for me! I'm not sure about searching by street address. I know you can search by name. Q #2: Not sure about this one; I'm sure someone else on the list will know more than I, but the Tampa library has an entire floor dedicated to genealogy. I'd try there. Q #3: The health dept. has the death certificates and birth certificates. I'm not sure how far back they have them... I wasn't able to get a birth certificate from 1892... they gave me a form with directions for sending to Jacksonville for it. I hope I've been of some help. I just returned from Tampa doing family research. Good luck, ~Amber Parker Raleigh, NC < I want to research old deeds, Do I go to the courthouse in Tampa? Can I search by street address? Also -want to research St. Pete when it was part of Hillsboro, Do I go to St. Pete? Tampa or Clearwater? Also - will the Tampa courthouse have recorded death certificates for deaths in their county? I know about Jacksonville. But I am not going to Jax, going to Tampa.
