Hello, I am trying to find information on my REGAN family who lived at Dover, FL from 1903-1920 at least. John Henry( b. abt. 1852-55 in FL) and Martha (Mattie) Bird (b. 1855 in FL.) REGAN moved to Dover from Gadsden Co. FL.in the early 1900s to farm strawberries. Mattie died 1918 in the flu epidemic. Only know that John died after 1920. Any suggestions on searching for this family or any information anyone might have would be so appreciated. Many thanks, Gwen
To all who is interested, Last summer I made a trip to the Blount, Curry and Roel funeral home on East Lake Avenue (Nebraska Ave.) {Myrtle Hill cemetery} looking for my Ggranparents and GGgrandparent, A Mr. Ken Westphal was the person to help me. He made a few phone inquires about who I was looking for then proceeded to take me to the plots that I was looking for. He was a wonderful person to work with. Gave me all sorts of information about the plot locations, a map, and a brief history about the cemetery. This cemetery is a fairly large cemetery. I also received a card from him. The card states this: BLOUNT, CURRY & ROEL funeral homes and cemeteries Garden of Memories and Myrtle Hill KEN WESTPHAL ------>>>> Family Service Counselor Cemetery Office 4207 East Lake Avenue Tampa Florida 33610 Office 1-813-626-3161 I hope this helps. This gentleman was a wonderful person in helping. I am sure if you call him he can tell you where to obtain anything you are looking for. take care Leslie Banister SCMATSON@aol.com wrote: > Has anyone requested and received funeral records that were requested? Has anyone requested and received funeral records that were requested? I am searching for more information on my husband's grandfather. My mother-in-law says that F. T. Blount was the funeral home that handled his funeral. Suzanne Collins Matson
Blounts Funeral home is still around in Tampa. Another old one is Boza's. The FHC on Fletcher does have some funeral records--I don't remember exactly which ones. But I do know they have some of Boza's from Key West when they first started. Loretta
F. T. Blount on Nebraska Ave. was purchased by SCI's competition, Stuart, and is Stuart's main Hillsborough County location. Stuart also bought out, over a period of years, Garden of Memories and Myrtle Hill Cemeteries, Roel &Curry, Curry and Sons, A.P. Boza (2 locations)and J. L. Reed Funeral Homes. The J L Reed and Boza(Armenia Ave) facilities are closed now. Both of these had records dating back to turn of the century. The rest of these facilities now carry the name "Blount, Curry & Roel Funeral Homes". SCI corporation purchased Duval, Marsicano, Stowers, B.Marion Reed, Hillsborough Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery. Duval was closed and records transfered to Hillsborough Memorial. B. Marion Reed closed and records are now kept at Marsicano. Hope this is of some help to anyone searching for old funeral home records. Debbi, I was one of the listers who looked into this for you. Did you write or call Hillsborough Memorial Gardens? The corporate SCI office would only forward your letter, at best. Why not share your information on your aunt with the list? It may connect with someone else or another lister may have some other suggestions for your brick wall. Hi all, I'm new to the list and hope I am doing this right. I would like to ask if there is any kind soul out there who would be willing to do some lookups in the criss cross directory on your next trip to the library. The info is awfully important to me and I would greatly appreciate any help you could give me. Of course, I would be happy to pay any expenses involved. Thanks, Katy
I have added a link on the Hernando county web page to this diary that Kyle Van Landingham has put on the web. William was involved in the Brooksville raid during the (recent unpleasantness) Civil War. http://www.lamartin.com/history/william_mccullough_diary.htm Deborah Byrd

We have numerous promient Knight families in Tampa. For instance, we have a small Peter O. Knight airport, and many physicians and attorneys. To the best of my knowledge alot of these, as well as some in Pinellas County are all related. Barb
There is a museum down in Ybor City. Its nationally recognized. If nothing else, they might have the location of the grocery store and possibly a picture of it. Or, they might be able to direct you to an archive/resource that could help. If you are looking for old Photos from Florida try this address, http://www.dos.state.fl.us/fpc/ They have a fairly broad base of photos. The state Archives also have a biography index http://dlis.dos.state.fl.us/stlib/namesearch.htm Also try this site for old Tampa photos. It seems to ring somewhere in my mind that One of the Knights was in the dry goods business with one of theWalls, I thing the old Mayor. The family called him Josiah but most of the "world" listed him as Joseph B. Wall. I know this site has photos of the dry goods store. http://www.lamartin.com/ Deborah Byrd
