    3. Thank you, Linda, for the treasure you sent - the site for naturalization records. This may be helpful to some of you searching for info in Tampa/Hillsborough County. A site you may want to peruse would be the Office of the Hillsborough County Clerk of the Circuit Court at the Hillsborough County Courthouse. I've done on-site searching at the courthouse and found that prior to 1984 everything they have available is still on film or fiche, after 1984 it's on computer. They have a website: Main Page: http://www.hillsclerk.com/ Public Records Menu: http://www.hillsclerk.com/content/public_records/public_records.htm If you follow each link on the menu and then go to that section's FAQs it tells what they have available and how to obtain it. While I'm at it, the cemetery records here (Tampa/Hillsborough) are in the City Clerk's office, at Archives and Records. I've been to there a couple of times and the people there fall all over themselves to be helpful. They have a website: http://www.ci.tampa.fl.us/departments/City_Clerk/index.asp The site also list lots of links that may help you with your Tampa search. Hope this helps. Jeannette

    1. [FLHILLSB] I am back
    2. Deborah Byrd
    3. Hello I am finally home. I'll get the web sites caught up sometime in the next millenia. My father fell about 6 weeks ago and broke some ribs then three weeks ago he complained that he couldn't move his left side. He had a subdural hemotoma and brain swelling. He survived the surgery, but couldn't go back home again. He is a happy confused, memory about 1963 when we lived in Fruita and Boulder Colorado. But recognizes everyone and knows where we live. He doesn't remember his grandchildren or great grandchildren. Asking him questions only upsets him and he starts tearing up. Found out that mother was orbiting the outer orbital objects, around Charon and heading for deep space. Father had covered for her so well, no one had any idea how bad she was. So my sibling and I had to find an assisted living center for them. all within 10 days of the surgery. Quite fun had to reduce their furniture and living habitat from 1300 sq feet to around 600 sq. feet by the time that father was released from the hospital. Of course we had only a short time period to do in. Sister and her husband live in Chicago and I in Idaho and the parents in Northwest Arkansas, Crawford County.. Had to clean out the house, of their 84 years of living and 62 years of marriage. Found out some interesting things about perserving your family history. below are the woulda, shoulda, couldas that would have been helpful for us. If you have stored your old photgraphs in the albums using the sticky pages with the plastic cover that peals off then covers your photos, get the old ones out of there as quick as possible. The tack used eats the backs of the old photos. All of mothers photo albums, use those pages If you have photos without identifying the people, locations, and dates, you may not be around to identify who the people are in the pictures and where it happened. Part of your history is lost. We could recognize some people and locations, but so many others are now lost to us. We, my sister and I, found lots of mementi of my parents, no idea what they meant to the parents and what story they told. Would have been nice to have had a record of when and where and why. We also found lots of old pottery and glass ware. Not sure when they came into the family and how mother acquired them. We think some of them belonged to our grandmothers. A memory book with a picture of the item and its history would have been very helpful. We don't know how much of it was family heirlooms or stuff mother bought over the years. The same thing for the quilts and needlework we believe that our grandmother made. Also found important documents in the shed, mixed in with chain letters that father collected. They were church marriage license, our baptism records and blessing records to mention only a few. Make sure that those items are in one place. We had to go through each piece of paper to make sure we were throwing important things away. They had the same filing system for the title to their "toys" and deeds. Record the funny things that happen to you while doing the task. We now have new phrases in our family language. Happy confused, Mother's Hair and Mother's head. Father was a happy confused in the hospital. Knew something was wrong, couldn't remember clearly, but was still in a good mood. Mother's hair ------- found out that she collected white and platinum colored wigs, she had a few other colors mixed in, around 300 total. She also collected American Indian jewelery. We went through her collection of jewelery and selected a few pieces that she could take with her to her new home. Closed up the bag with the stuff she wouldn't take, the bag had no wigs in it. When Sister and I went to put the jewelery in the safety deposit box, found two wigs, white of course, stuck in the bag. we laughed till no sound came and tears streamed down our face. One of the wigs now resides in the safety deposit box. Mother's Head, well she had a wighead on which to store a wig. intersesting times. If anyone wants more of the gory details of the process to place parents in assisted livng please write privately. That was a bear to do. most places had a 6 month to 2 year waiting list to people inside. we were guided by Heavenly Father to find the place we did. His hand was very evident. Deborah Byrd

I remember that I found obituary notices from the Tampa Tribune somehow by logging onto their library database. I am specifically looking for anything on boarding houses in the 1920's-50's in and around the Ybor City area, including 9th avenue. My great-grandmother ran one (according to the censuses, but I cannot find out any info on her; where and when she died, etc.). Any help at all would be appreciated. Thank you all. Incidentally, I am off work for one year (undergoing chemotherapy) and would be happy to search local library and/or FHC in Summit County, Ohio. Just ask me. I can also photo cemetery plots with my new (albeit low compression) digital camera, or can scan documents to send via email to anyone interested in Summit County, Ohio records. 3. Hi all, I am looking for any information concerning a painter who lived in Tampa: He was Antonio Luis, who was a Spanish painter commissioned by the Woods Family who was here in Tampa at the time doing portraits of their family members. Isabel--Antonio's wife, was a Del Valle and the Coat of Arms was in stone at their home in Spain. Antonio painted it. While in Tampa, Antonio and Isabel lived in the garage apartment at Fred Woods home. My Great Aunt Alma del Valle worked for Fred Woods and he painted our family coat-of-arms, an original oil painting which hangs in my aunt's apartment. I am looking specifically for information on his wife, Isabel del Valle, from Spain. Please contact me if you can help me. Thank you all. Susan Muzio Conner Hartville, Ohio sconner@speedynet.net

    2. Hello all, I am looking for several lines in Hillsborough. Here are the two most important ones for now. I am looking for info about Edgar Judson BAILEY born in Ga in 1905 and died in Tampa 1978(?). His father was Robert BAILEY, I think he had a brother Henry BAILEY. They had their own business in Tampa...or Robert BAILEY did. It was a construction and house painting operation. I don't know when it started or ended, I just know that Edgar Judson (Juddy) BAILEY worked for his father in the 1930's till 1950's + painting houses. If anyone is familiar with these names or that business I would love to hear from you!! I am also working on STOKES. Edward Agustus (Born 1894-died 1971) and Hattie Barbara Albritton STOKES (born 1 April 1899- died December 1982). They moved to Hillsborough county from either Clay or Bradford counties around 1916. They had a daughter Mary Irma Stokes born December of 1916. Edward had a brother William Marion STOKES that also moved to Hillsborough about the same time. He was married to a Lillie ? and they had at least one son named Merle STOKES. There was also a Debbie STOKES that married a George WILLIAMS I'm not sure if she was in Hillsborough or Clay counties. I'd appreciate any help!! thanks for your time!! Lisa Volunteer of Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness at: http://raogk.rootsweb.com
