I already tried the THOR database looking for Houston Avery who died Oct. 1986 along with his lovely bride, Lear (Garner) Avery who died in May 1993, both in Ruskin. Any ideas please ?? Thanks Don Avery Massachusetts

Some once provided the website of the old Tampa Tribune Weekly newspapers online. I have accidently lost it while attempting to upgrade my computer. Please give it again. Richard Lee
Looking for any information on a Spanish painter named Antonio Luis, who while in Tampa, was commissioned to paint portraits of family members of the Fred Woods family. Not sure of the year, but I suspect it was between 1940's and 1960's. According to one source, Antonio Luis' wife was a "del Valle". Antonio painted the del Valle coat of arms from memory of the original coat of arms in stone at the del Valle home in Spain. I am researching my "del Valle" branch and this information would be very helpful. Thank you. Susan Muzio Conner Hartville, Ohio

I am searching for my Martin relatives of Florida. I would like to know in which county Gainsville and Mariana Florida are. I would also like to know if there are records for Evergreen Cemetery. Thanks for your help! This is what I have: Margaret Harris Martin was born 1826, died 1898 and married General Jesse Johnson. He is buried at the Evergreen Cemetery which, I believe, is in Gainesville, Fla. (their children were: Emily born 1846, died in infancy; Arthur born 1847, died in infancy.; Charles Alexander Martin, born April 22, 1849 in Mariana, Florida, died about 1928 and married Arabella Moncrief in April 1873.). Mary Bethune Martin who married 1st) Robert Dortch of NC and 2nd) James L. Meigs (according to Hillsborough County, FL census records for District 61, Precinct 3, pg 12: Meigs, James L. w/m 53 TN TN TN engineer; Mary w/f 47 TN VA TN wife; Dortch, William D. w/m 27 TN VA TN stepson; Meigs, Alexander K. w/m 23 TN TN TN son; Meigs, Mildred w/f 15 TN TN TN daughter. It lists William as not being at home and Alexander as a Machinist.). Thanks, again! Fredreica speyer@bellsouth.net
the THOR system is Tampa Hillsborough Public library. they have obits indexed. here is the link http://www.thpl.org click on library catalog and then THOR, the directions for access are listed...good luck!
I have just updated some of the links on the Hills genweb and uploaded three cemeteries. donated by one of the list memebers. Here is the url http://www.rootsweb.com/~flhillsb/hills.htm also added more names on the mailing list members page. If you haven't sent your names in, consider doing so. Deborah Byrd
Here it is. This section on Trails explains how to get it. If you are in a county near Hillsborough, you can probably get all stuff for free through Inter Library Loan in your own library. http://www.thpl.org/thpl/eresources/thor/trails.html Sydney ----- Original Message ----- From: "Leslie Banister" <flockdwatts@austin.rr.com> To: <FLHILLSB-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 06, 2001 12:17 PM Subject: [FLHILLSB] News Papers and link(url) > Debra, Not to long ago someone gave a url to one of the newspapers in > Hillsborough. I lost that url in my mail somewhere :-) would you happen > to have it somewhere ??? > take care Leslie > Hello Leslie, I have been mucking around on the web pages, so it was a timely question. The web page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~flhillsb/hillsnew.htm has the listing of the newspapers and the THOR entrance for obituaries. I have added to the main page of the Hills genweb page a link to Tampa city government, that another listed sent. The Tampa City web site is rather cool. Lists the city Cemeteries and addresses, can get maps to getting there in town also. Deborah
