One research line in Tampa is John Elwood Matson Sr (1895-1975) who moved into Tampa around 1925, was one of the first motorcycle police officers in Tampa (according to his obituary). He was married (1) unknown (2) Gertrude Klemme and (3) Jean Octavia Green. I am searching for info about the first wife and a daughter born from that first marriage; the daughter's name was Anita Florence Matson who married an Odis Ceril McCullers in 1940. I am researching the following names from Hillsborough and Monroe Counties. Mira, Cepero, Sanchez, Martinez, Valdez, Fuentes, Delrio, Ledon and Mesa. Any information on the above names is appreciated. Thanks. Cheryl Sanchez-Sivers
Just a reminder, the rootsweb servers, don't accept mime format, only plain text, so if you try to send to the list a mime format, chances are it will be rejected. Deborah Byrd list mom

I am looking for a John BASKIN in the Hillsbourough County area. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you Grace for this great info! I did not know you monitored the Hillsborough List. If you sent this info on Ansy to me before I either did not get it or didn't see it somehow. This will be very helpful in our search for Martin's parents. I was recently ( and kindly) sent info that he ,sister Ansy and Mahala Patterson are listed together in Benton Co. 1850 census (please forgive me if I get this wrong-I do not have my files handy)so it would seem possible that Mahala (Mahalia) was his mother-she is listed as being from GA. Anything new on the possiblity of "James" you had first listed being his father? Thanks again for sending this to the list-John & Laura ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >From : GraceEP@aol.com To : FLHILLSB-L@rootsweb.com Subject : [FLHILLSB] Anzy Jane Patterson Date : Wed, 28 Nov 2001 14:44:01 EST Anzy Jane Patterson married Lawrence P. Hello, Does anyone on the list have access to marriage records in Tampa 1924. Specifically, I'm looking for the marriage of Thomas O. Martin to Lillian (last name unknown) on April 20, 1924. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Janet
Look and see if you can find him in any of the WWI draft records. Someone else on the list can probably tell you where you could find those. He could be in Tampa prior to the directory ... he may have been living in a boarding home. I've run into the same situation of not being able to locate individuals because of this. Check the Tampa History museum ... I don't thing that is the correct name ... that is down town on Franklin Street. They might have some ideas of where to access those type of historical records. Hi, Has anyone requested information about an ancestor from the Tampa Police Department and/or the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department? My husband's grandfather (John Elwood Matson, Sr) was apparently employed first by the Tampa Police and later by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department. Can anyone please help me find information on the following family. Mabel Anschutz Shepard I MAY HAVE found her in the SSDI, b. 1899 d. 1983. From a scrape of info in 1981 we were contacted by a Virgina Roth interested in information on our Warren family. They were connected and we sent info to this Virgina in care of Mabel in Venice. Mabel's mother was Grace Lillian Warren, her father was Alfred Anschutz. We think Mabel and another sister Helen. Not sure of any other siblings. We are connected through Grace's sister Sarah. The Warren family is originally from Pittsburgh PA. Grace and Alfred moved to WV after their marriage in 1897. Mabel is listed as living in Charleston WV in 1949 per a will of Grace's brother Samuel F Warren. Any and all information on this family is most welcome. Please reply to nancy.r.evans@verizon.net With Sincerest Thanks, Nancy R. Evans

Thanks to everyone for your help. I probably should have mentioned that I live in Indiana, so driving to the local courthouse won't work. However, I happen to live 1 hour away from the second largest genealogical collection in the USA (Allen County Public Library, Fort Wayne IN). So I'm going to call them tomorrow and see about getting the microfilm for the Tampa Tribune. After going into THOR, I found obits for my Brandon side also! Thanks again Wendy
I am a descendant of Rev. C.S. Reynolds. Our family history has been traced back to Canada. Asa and Electra Reynolds came to America from Canada in the 1700's. Unfortunately some information has come up missing and thats all we remember except that Asa died on his way back north and is buried in Milford Indiana. The next generation I am aware of would be Rev. Cooley Sumner Reynolds. He married Judith Alexander in 1854 in Hillsborough County FL. I know Judith was born in GA, and for some reason I'm thinking they met in Ocala FL. CS Reynolds was the associate editor at the paper in Tampa before moving to Clearwater to become the editor at that paper. His son was Sumner Jeffords Reynolds who married Nellie Brandon in Clearwater in 1899. Can anyone point me in the right direction to help fill in these holes?
