    3. Hi Fred, I have not seen any answers to your post. Here is a link to the USF Special Collections site. Choose the View the Collections at the bottom, then type in your choices. I saw about 29 for Ybor in just one collection. Good luck. 1. [FLHILLSB] LIst Mom and Klez virus.
    2. Deborah Byrd
    3. The following is taken from RootsWeb Review: RootsWeb's Free Weekly E-zine Vol. 5, No. 22, 29 May 2002, Circulation: 959,580+ (c) 1998-2002 RootsWeb.com, Inc. http://www.rootsweb.com/ Deborah Byrd 2c. KLEZ VIRUS FOOLS AND ENTICES. Genealogists are not the only ones being fooled by this relentless worm, which spoofs (forges) the "From" address. Even the U.S. State Department's e-mail identity was forged by it recently as Klez sent itself to law enforcement and media outlets across the country. Your editor and the RootsWeb HelpDesk have received hundreds of messages lately from researchers fearful that RootsWeb is sending out these worm- infested attachments. Relax. The virus is not coming from RootsWeb or via any RootsWeb mailing list (which do not allow attachments anyway). It is being sent to you privately by the infected computer (often without the owner's knowledge), with a forged "From" e-mail address and with all sorts of subjects lines, which Klez also steals. There are several ways Klez can obtain your e-mail address: --It may be in the sender's address book. --The infected computer may find an unread message from you in someone's inbox. --It may appear on a webpage that is cached on the infected computer. --It may appear in an old e-mail message that is stored on the infected computer. Depending on where Klez finds your e-mail address, it may use the subject line or copy part of a post in an attempt to appear to be a legitimate message. There is nothing your editor, the HelpDesk or anyone at RootsWeb can do to stop this. This mail does not originate with, or pass through, the RootsWeb mail servers. Your best defense is to not open any attachments you receive via e- mail, regardless of who the "From" person appears to be (use the real e-mail address of your friend or family member to inquire if they have sent you something with an attachment); keep your AntiVirus (AV) software up-to-date and use it, and set your AV program to scan all incoming e-mail or if the option is available, not to download infected mail from the server. Read more about Klez and the problems it is causing in an article by Michelle Delio in Wired News, currently available at: http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,52765,00.html Reliable information about computer viruses can be found at: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html http://dispatch.mcafee.com/virus_tips.asp?cid=1593 For a free online virus scan: http://housecall.antivirus.com/pc_housecall/ For free antivirus protection: http://www.grisoft.com/html/us_index.htm

    3. There is an obit for him in the Tampa Tribune. http://www.thpl.org/hcplc/catalog/ The information you would need is all on this initial page. I would look under the library locations tab for the address or phone. I would offer to do it for you, but I live quite a ways from Tampa in spite of my email address. Charges are minimal, I believe. 3. Steve, You might try seeing if you can get a date of death ... the Tampa Tribune, the newspaper that would have carried the obit if there was one, is a very large newspaper. And nowadays, you want even find all the obituaries for people. If a family doesn't specifically request a obit be placed, or if a funeral home doesn't specifically so this as a service, an obit won't be found in the Trib any more. Also, because the paper is so large, you will need at least a month to look in for the microfilm in order to have any luck locating your obit. They don't look for you ... USF and the main branch of the Hillsborough County library have the newspaper on microfilm I believe. But, you have to request films by date. 3. Now that Summer is officially underway. I have a reminder and a request. As you are out ancestor digging this summer, if you find anything of your family and/or the counties that they lived in please consider sharing the information on the Genweb county Archives page. So nice to be able to share and spread the wealth. Also if you are going to be gone for an extended period, for me that is more than 2 days, please consider the size of your e-mail inbox. Most servers provide fairly small inboxes, so they can fill up rather quickly. As mail gets rejected, many mailing list robots will automatically drop your name from the mailing list because of the number of rejected messages. This is a common maintenance practice to help remove dead e-mail addresses. The robots are automatic and human hands don't touch them. On this mailing list, if a messages rejects 4 times in a row, the robot drops the address from the list. So remember when you get back, you may need to resubscribe to some of your mailing list. On rootsweb go to the mailing list page, select the mailing list and follow the instructions. Hope every one has a wonderful summer. Out here in the lava rock desert of Idaho, the distant mountains still have snow in some places and some of our high county roads are still snowed in as usual. However the desert is blooming and the alphalfa looks like it has about 4 weeks to the first cutting. Deborah Byrd
