Hi, I am hoping that someone out there may have a picture of the SWAN DRIVE INN. It was located on Nebraska Ave. Actually on the corner of Broad and Nebraska. My parents owned it during the time of 1963-1970. There names where Charles and Irene ENS. After it was sold, Arthur Treachers Fish and Chips built a building on the lot. Does anyone know where I could obtain a picture of this building? I would love to have a copy of it. Charrene Ens-Hale at jachar3@comcast.net Thanks
You could probably find the place of burial and the exact cause of death in the death certificate. I've gotten one from 1927 that showed this ... although I have yet to actually locate the grave as it was unmarked. The LDS has the death index for the state of Florida all through the 20's ... I'd request it and then just go through the Hillsborough county list. As far as the property stuff .... I'm not sure if Hillsborough County has its records on microfiche (or anything) for that far back. Someone else on the list might know that one, if not, check with the Clerk's office or the Property Assessment office. Wish I could be of more help. I'd go look for you, but at the moment I'm tied down with four kids and most places that I could easily access that info aren't what you would call child friendly and our local LDS library doesn't even allow children in it. If I do get a few minutes though I'll try and run something down for you. Oh sure ... check the main library downtown, the Tampa History museum that is downtown, or the Ybor City museum in Ybor City (that's also in Tampa). In addition to that, I believe there is a plan already approved to re-build part of the old streetcar line to downtown, so you would think those pictures would be fairly easy to come by. Hello list, I am doing research on a David R. Henderson from GA who moved to Hillsborough county prior to 1920, and, according to the family, died in an accident at a planing mill in either Hillsborough or Pasco county in the 20's. I found him on the 1920 census with his family in the 19th Precinct, Hillsborough County. His trade was Wood Turner and his place of work was Planing Mill. David's son Emory was a machinist at the planing mill. I am looking for specific information about David: Property records - he owned his house and I would like the deed and mortgage papers. Obituary and other Press Coverage - Unfortunately, I don't know the year of the accident, but I'm sure a story like this would be written up in the papers. Burial Info - I would like to know where David was buried and his birth/death dates. I would also like to know more about the planing mill. If someone could help me, I would be greatly appreciative. I live in the Metro Atlanta area and have access to the Georgia Archives and National Archives and am always willing to trade lookups. Thanks in advance, Paul Graham
I remember seeing photos on the Tampa calendar that are sold thru the library. This years calendar only had the trolley itself in 1919. An elderly, now deceased, friend who's father also engineered the cars recognized her father in the old pic...seems like that was a couple years ago. His name was EISELE. I'm sure the Burgert Bros collection would include photos of the trolley. Diane

As a native of Hillsborough Co...as odd as this sounds...it never occured to me to sign up in my own hometown...and we've been here for quite a spell. Someone reseaching from another place might be looking for us here...so I'd like to post my interests... Before moving down to Hillsborough Co my Grandfather Berton Filmore GRANTHAM was born in Live Oak, FL in 1892. His father, Jesse Jackson GRANTHAM married Eliza Jane BRANCH in Jackson Co FL in 1866. Those BRANCH's settled and developed the small community of Branchton in Hillsborough Co. Many of the GRANTHAM's are buried at the Mathews Cemetery on Taylor Rd off 574 in Seffner; some at the cemetery on Countyline Rd in Lutz; and some are in Myrtle Hill off 50th St. I'm happy to share info with anyone interested in these families.
