The 1920 census ... well, to put it bluntly ... the 1920 census index isn't all that great. So if you want me to look in the '20 census give me as much info as you can because many times only heads of household are listed in the index and I have to then cross check with the actual census image. > > I'm doing this for a couple of different lists I am on, so please mention state and county when you send in your request. 3. This comes from a lady in Ga.,Bullock Co.list. who is also affected by budget cuts- the libraries all over are being hit hard- Florida Libraries are on the budget hit list- Already some states are cutting back on services, etc. for their state libraries. Virginia has been closing on Mondays (last I checked). Here in Michigan the machinery is taking a hit and no money to fix as frequently as needed, so we go and there are LOTS of machines that do not work. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carol Stevens" <lashbrook@direcway.com> To: <PMcSwain@peoplepc.com> Sent: Friday, February 14, 2003 6:53 AM Subject: RE: [GABULLOC] Fw: [FLHILLSB] TODAYS LAKELAND LEDGER > but then again NOT so hard > > Already some states are cutting back on services, etc. for their state > libraries. 3. Go to http://www.thpl.org Click on Information Gateway Click on Genealogy Then type in any of the names you are looking for. If there was an article or obit posted in the Tampa Tribune or any of its affiliates (includes several adjoining counties), more information will come up. Say the name of a person you are seeking is on this list, you click on the name and the computer will give you the name of the paper, day, date, column, page, etc. you need to obtain. If it's a book or article, most can be obtained via inter-library loan. If it's an obit or newspaper article, one of us can get it for you. There are also cemetery lists on-line, USF has a great library and on-line site, and other sites to help you along. Try the library site first and see what you find. If Hobbs, Marvin doesn't come up, broaden your search to Hobbs, and you may find more.
