Ancestry.com shows a Vera Rosa Ripley with a death date in 2006, obituary in a PA newspaper. Hopefully you can find a bit more information by crossing the boarder. I'd be a bit more vague, but something odd I don't understand is happening. That hit comes from the free version of ancestry, so of course, all the good info is locked. However, if I put her through our library edition, I don't get a single hit? Still looking around for a possible article from the Ruskin paper. Likely going to be a problem, as I think the only "local" paper is one of those freebie types we get by the handful around here. Tampa Tribune index didn't turn up anything on her either. ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] Date: Wednesday, October 11, 2006 3:46 am Subject: FLHILLSB Digest, Vol 1, Issue 20 To: [email protected] > > I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to locate an > obituary for Vera Ripley born 08/04/1900 and died 03/19/2006. The 29th Annual Pioneer Heritage Day in Plant City will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2006. This event, sponsored by the East Hillsborough Historical Society, will be located at the 1914 Plant City High School Community Center, 605 North Collins Street, in the heart of Plant City's historic district. The time for the event is from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There is no admission charge and free parking is available. This year our focus will be on heritage crafts. Many fun activities and events are planned for the day, including live entertainment, arts and crafts, heritage crafts, children's corner, roving host and hostesses in period costumes, tours of 1914 Plant City High School, pioneer tradespeople, pioneer demonstrations, good foods, bake sale, treasures sale, antiques and more. There will be something for everyone to enjoy. Inside the historic high school you can visit the classrooms and take a trip back through time browsing through the museum, camera and photography display, medical equipment room, antique furniture, clothing and our agriculture room called "Down On The Farm". Each room is filled with history. The Quintilla Geer Bruton Archives Center, located on the first floor, is where one can browse through history or look up your ancestry. Located on the third floor you will find John Briggs art studio, Gladys Jeffcoat's camera and photography display and the H. B. Plant Railroad Historical Society. This is where you can see model trains travel through early Plant City, complete with replicas of buildings and homes that once existed here. Whatever your interest you will find something to your liking. The funds raised from this event go toward the continuing restoration and upkeep of the building. There are still some spaces available for crafters, demonstrators and food vendors. For more information about this event contact Brenda Inlow at the East Hillsborough Historical Society office at 813-757-9226 or email [email protected]

Roy, Seems to me it was Edwards but not sure
Trails index shows a: John Frederick Schmitt age 71 1964 12 5 Perhaps this is your Frederick Johann Schmitt. The names are very similiar and according to this John Frederick Schmitt's age of 71 when he died in 1964 he would have been born about 1893 which is also close to the year the man you are looking for was born. Getting this man's obit should prove if he is the man you are looking for. It is worth a try. Good luck! Yvonne
It was W. T. Edwards Hospital, I believe. I worked there as a state employee during the late 1970's through the 1980's. Cindi Wright
Anyone remember the name of the T.B. sanatorium on Dale Mabry in Tampa ? Roy
Follow-up to my earlier post. According to the TRAILS pathway pdf in the link below, you can request the articles via interlibrary loan and they will send photocopies. It might be less work for them (and quicker for you) to contact them by phone, and just ask to have the pages faxed? http://www.hcplc.org/hcplc/ig/userguides/gen/trails.pdf
