I saw this item posted to the Fuller list and am passing it on in case any of you have this man in your family tree. The original sender's e-mail address is at the end of the message. Doris Stanford > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > I don't know how to get this posted nation-wide. But, I would like to see this original document returned to a member of the original family. My mother-in-law bought a picture frame at an estate sale in Tucson, AZ. When she took the picture out and removed the cardboard from behind it, a very delicate, old, and yellowed piece of paper fell out. Hi List... Jennifer has graciously given permission to use her cemetery information to start creating cemetery pages for the FLGenWeb Gilchrist County Page. We will be attempting to link the cemetery listings to appropriate census/land patent, etc. listings. Anyone with other first hand cemetery information may add to the information on these new pages. We can not use information from the Gilchrist County Cemetery Book as we do not have permission to use the book. I have written to the address in the book and offered to put the book on disk for permission to use the information on the page and have not received a reply. I am also still looking for annotations for the 1850 and 1860 Alachua County censuses. Hello Joe, I will certainly investigate the cemetery inscription projects that you have recommended. Thank you. I hope to finish the listings as soon as I can allot time for a longer trip to the Bell area. I'd like to thank you for the assistance you have unknowingly given me. Your book, _Allen Townsend of Madison County, Florida: A Genealogy_, has not only helped me to fill in my own family tree, but more importantly it has helped to teach me the way that genealogical research should be documented. I highly recommend your book to any TOWNSEND researcher working on "our" lines, but I also recommend it to any researcher who wants an example of genealogical data organization and publishing, management of source citations, etc. I only wish I'd had it when I first became interested in family history. I'm still having to re-research data that I poorly documented in the beginning. Thank you again for your suggestions on how to better share the cemetery data. Warm regards, Jennifer Jacksonville, FL jennifer@leading.net
TO: Jennifer in Jacksonville I saw your three postings for cemeteries in the Bell area on this list. These postings are quite valuable as you know and you are to be commended for collecting and posting this information. In order to get greater dissemination of this information I suggest you consider submitting it to the USGenWeb Archives Cemetery Project. You can do this by contacting Patti Peterson at pattemarie@aol.com and send her your listings for these cemeteries. (I am sure they will accept even partial listings) Patti is the FL State coordinator and will see that your listings get archived and be made available to more than are on the FLGILCHR-L list. I suggest you visit the Fl cemetery project site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/florida.html for further information. A big plus is that these archives can be searched by using the search engine at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ussearch.htm With the search engine you can search for all the names of interest to you in USGenWeb Project Archives which will include your cemeteries if you post them to the Archives. Hi Antoinette, I am sorry I do not know very much about my mother's family yet. Wow, it is hard enough just finding out about ancestors; can only imagine the extra challenge of tracing slave ownership. I guess in one sense, if they kept thorough records on slaves, it might make it easier to search for ancestors; genealogically speaking, of slaves than non slaves, since the only thing we have to go by is census records & if blessed a will or Bible (I have not uncovered such treasure unfortunately). I do not know of any connection to Chisholm family. I do not even know the state in which my Robinsons originated. Some of my others did come from SC. I have only uncovered mostly farmers, a few preachers ect, no plantation owners nor slave owners. I remember you from a previous query and have wanted to thank you for your question as to my Grandmother's name because it led to a connection with a cousin on my Tison line. Again Thank you; and hoping you success in your search. Sharon ---------- From: ZKAI@aol.com To: FLGILCHR-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Robinson Date: Wednesday, November 18, 1998 3:00 PM Hi, I am looking for information on the Chisholm family (African Americans). My great great grand father was Edward Chisholm, born about 1815 in South Carolina. He was listed on the 1870 census in Gainesville, the area that he lived in was known as Newnans Lake, named after Daniel Newnans. The Chisholms owned quite a bit of land in that area. I would like to know any information that concerns this family. My great grand father Thomas Chisholm was born in Windsor, Florida in 1855, this family was there in1860 but were not enumerated on the census. This leads me to believe that they were someone's property. I would like to know who their owner was and where in South Carolina they lived before being found in Alachua. Thank you. Sincerely, Antoinette

As far as I know, SUMMERY is not a derivative of the Somervail/Somerville/Summerell/Summerall group. Although, one can never be sure in this business! Karen
I saw the recent posting of "Summeralls". I have a relative named Russell Summery who was born c1903. At least that is how it is spelled in the census of 1910. He was living with his grandparents, WHC and Levicia Hendricks. I believe that Russell is the son of their daughter, Savillah Hendricks who first married Ansel Shaw and then presumably married a "Summery". Could this be Summerall?? Does anyone have anything on this family? Paul M. Hendricks

Hi, everyone: I have a Rosetta Tison as one of the sisters of my great-grandfather Thomas Doss Tison. She was born ca. 1879, parents were William Jasper Tison and "Mary A. Elizabeth Ammons" I think (which could be the same as "Annie Elizabeth"?). Let me know if you think there is a connection!
