Just got a note from the SC Dept of Arch and Hist. My request for whether Solomon was on their pay rolls of WO1812 turned up nothing, but from their microfilm of the National Archives' 1812 Service records they found one Solomon Owens, private, 5th Regiment, Keith's SC Militia. Since I have already intitiated a search through NARA for such a record, I suppose I will be getting something from them, though probably not before this decade is out. Am really excited to see what turns up. MAY be our man. I have also requested a search with the Florida Dpt of Arch and HIst as to 1812 Pension applications in the name of Solomon Owens. Haven' t heard from this either. Scott
