    1. [FLGADSDE] Solomon Owens, 5th Reg, SC Militia, War of 1812
    2. I have submitted three Form 80's to NARA to search for the Military Service, Bounty Land Warrent Application, and Pension files of which the National Archives might have on Solomon Owens, 5th Reg SC Mililitia, War of 1812. Hopefully some indication will be there as to where this gent enlisted. Ideally his birthplace, place of residence when application for land warrents and pensions were made, age at enlistment, service activity/actions, and such will be specified. Maybe I'll be lucky. Will keep all informed as get records. Also am on the trail of Solomon the elder. Strongly suspect that he was from NC (I have found one referrence to a colonial record for a Solomon Owens in NC) and that he was a veteran of Rev War. Am waiting on a CD for colonial records to get a referrence on the NC record, then I can order that from NARA or NC A&H. Then start a search for Rev War, wills, and land records. I have found four Owens gents who came to SC about the same time, were born within a twelve year span, and could be brothers or cousins. Maybe they came from the same place. David (Marion County), Joshua (Laurens County, Thomas and Solomon (Barnwell). There are other Owens lines in SC which I am searching for lines and earliest ancestor. Merry Christmas to all. Do keep in mind the REAL reason for this all, and disregard this mindless stuff that distracts. Scott
