Have not heard back from NARA on Solomon Owens' War of 1812 service, bounty land warrent application, or pension. It has been over 2 months since I requested these copies. Experience tells me this could be a good sign, because I have found that the requests for which no records can be found are usually returned in about 4-5 weeks, and when records are found and copied, the more copied the longer it takes for it to get back. So maybe I hit paydirt this time. Getting tired of stiking out. Also waiting on Rev War records for Solomon (the elder) and Stephen Owens from (suspected) NC service. Need to write the NC Archives to see if they have land/deed records on Solomon of Craven County. Need to look at Barnwell Distr. tax lists to see who is listed when in early 1800's. Guess I'll email the SC Archives to see about this. Wonder if old Solomon as a young man could have been in the French and Indian War? Will keep you informed as developments occur. Scott Owens
