Thank you for all this information. The Solomon will I have in trascript, in addition to William (Solomon's son), Jesse, Griffin, and Stephen (not my ancestor, supposed son of Thomas Owens). Also have copy of orginal and transcript of Stephen, son of Solomon, will. Have been studying census returns to get some insight. Is there an 1790 Census of Barnwell District? Also have some copies of deeds, a 1775 deed from Craven Co, NC wherein one Solomon Owens transferrs property to Jacob Blount for debts, property said Owens had obtained by patent in 1770. Also 1824 deed in Barnwell Dist, SC, wherein Solomon Owens (eldest son of Stephen and grandson of above mentioned Solomon) and wife Sarah sell 100 ac, property which by its description was obtained by Stephen and was apparently given to Solomon and Sarah at their marrage, per Stephen's will. Still need to get copies of clerk copies of transactions on Stephen's estate after his death in 1824 which continued until 1833. Another Solomon Owens apparently died in Barnwell Distr c1852 intestate leaving a wife Elizabeth, who shortly married James Dortch. Don't think this is the same Solomon as the 100 ac above. My GGGgrandfather, Solomon A. Owens, and his wife Sarah, had three children born in SC: my GGgrandfather , James G. Owens, bAug 1819, a second son whom I suspect to be Wesley S.Owens, c1822, and Annie Elizabeth Owens, Jan 25, 1825. Their next surviving child was John Miles Owens, b 1829, Gadsden County, FL. I believe that Solomon the son of Stephen, grandson of old Solomon, of Barnwell Dist, SC, to be one and the same as my GGGgrandfather. I think after Stephen died and his estate was in dissarray, Solomon sold his land and left to Florida, but no proof of this as of yet. Of course, the more I repeat this, the more it seems correct. But then, this theory has become somewhat of an obscession I need to prove/disprove. Any idea about who the Solomon Owens in Craven co, NC, in 1775 might be?
