    2. Florida State Hospital Cemetery, Cemetery # 3 Division 6, Chattahoochee, Florida <A HREF="http://members.aol.com/bettymaes/flstatehospital/Cem3Div6.htm">http:/ /members.aol.com/bettymaes/flstatehospital/Cem3Div6.htm</A> http://members.aol.com/bettymaes/flstatehospital/Cem3Div6.htm I have used (..) for part of the date as this is the oldest part of the cemetery and on the chart the it says (1-25-26) for the date. After working with this chart I do not believe it was a hospital cemetery. I had mailed this chart to 3 different volunteers to transcribe and finally ended up doing it myself. That is how hard it is to read. Betty

    1. [FLGADSDE] "Kalamazoo Engineering C.L.U.B" what does C.L.U.B. mean?
    2. Florida State Hospital Cemetery # 2, Gadsden County, Florida The Florida State Hospital had two sets of plot charts for Cemetery # 2. One was a field chart and one a neat chart done back at office. I noted the differences I found in the charts. On the charts is a stamp that says "Kalamazoo Engineering C.L.U.B". (There is a company in Florida today named " Kalamazoo Engineering) What does the "C.L.U.B" stand mean? I believe this company was hired to move Cemetery # 2. Before the graves were moved they had headboards. When they moved the graves, each grave was given a number on a plaque only. Where Cemetery # 2 is now the hospital does not know. They have no records of where it was moved to. Except for a torn place on the plat map that looks like "ndrdson Place". Hospital probably bought some land to move the cemetery to. On plat map of Division # 1 of Cemetery #2 this is written: "Working Plat for showing location and names of graves for the purpose of moving to New Cemetery on the "ndrdson Place" The numbers on this plat in pencil are the numbers which will correspond to the numbers (word torn - "on")the new plat." Plat maps done in September and August of 1913. When the graves were actually moved not known. We found some headstones that match a few of the white men in Cemetery #2 at the new cemetery on Goat Hill. Whether the families knew were their loved ones were moved to, or if they just found a matching number and put down a headstone, We don't know. No headstones for white women, colored women, or colored men were found. Sandra High McLin and I were told how many new burials were in the new cemetery on Goat Hill. We told the hospital that the next day we were going to count all the graves and see if there was over a thousand extra graves there. The next day we went back and the gate was locked and the man with the key was out of town. I will get back up there and count them. I was told some of the markers are covered with dirt and grass has grown over them. I don't think that a over a thousand markers would have this happen to them. Even if we came up with 300 or 400 extra graves we would have our answer. The hospital does not "think" that the graves were moved to Goat Hill as they think the first burials at Goat Hill was in the 1930's . Yet the hospital has no record of when the moving took place or to where. We know exactly were the original cemetery # 2 was because of the charts on the plat maps. When I was in Michigan this year, I checked with the Kalamazoo, Michigan and had not the time to go back and check further. There is a big mental institution there. Can anyone help solve this puzzle. Thanks Betty

    1. [FLGADSDE] Solomon Owens
    2. Can someone answer this question. If so please e-mail ANRKEE@aol.com My GGGgrandfather, Solomon Owens, moved to Gadsden County in c1827 after his first wife (my GGGgrandmother, mother of James G. Owens, my GGgrandfather) died presumably in SC where they were all born. Solomon's second wife whom he presumably married in Gadsden County was Sarah (?), b1808 NC. My guess her family had moved there about the same time as Solomon. They must have married about 1828, because their first child was born in 1829, John Miles Owens. I speculate that she could have named her first son after her father. Could this be true? Do you have a John Miles from NC coming to Gadsden County c1825? Please contact me at home, ANRKEE@aol.com Scott Owens

    1. [FLGADSDE] James (Jim) Franklin
    2. This message is from Albert T Franklin, who had a lot of the cemeteries in Jackson Co FL surveyed for us ( When Cindy and I visited him, he handed us a big box of surveyed cemeteries on the spot, no questions asked.) If someone out there has the new Master Index for FTM and could look on the index for me. It just might answer the question for him. Thanks, Betty Hello to all Genealogists: Here I am again with my meager attempt to find my great- grandfather. I haven't been looking but 40 years. I thought that by this time I could have found him someplace. I have looked everywhere I know. I have about come to the conclusion he must have been hatched and not born. My Father was Thomas Franklin, My Grand-father was James (Jim) Franklin My Grandfather was in Glynn Co. Ga. in 1840 as I understand it. He was supposedly born there in a little community know then as Cater Town. It no longer exists, but was located about 20 to 30 miles north east of Brunswick Ga. I seen it on an old map years ago. My father was raised by his maiden aunt, Betty Franklin. My grandmother died at childbirth of my father and my aunt took him to raise. There was My Great- Grandfather, His Sister Betty. and a possible brother Benjamin. My Aunt Betty remembered then as coming on a boat. She must have been a young child at the time. My grand-father was born in 1841 to 1848. There is no listing for Betty or Elizabeth Franklin in an Irish passenger list of immegrants. If there is any one that can help me I sure would appreciate hearing from you. I would be glad to re-imburse you for all expenses you might encounter and a little extra besides. I am: Albert T franklin, 2963 Woodward St Marianna, Fl. 32446. 850-482-3476 albert@digitalexp.com
