The first printing of my book sold out quickly; a second printing is now available. Those interested should contact me directly at the address listed below. The following paraphrases the original announcement: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To: Descendants of Francis McCall of South Carolina From: Clint McCall Date: 20 December 2002 Re: Publication Availability Notice Title: “Francis McCall and Some Who Follow… A Descendant Compilation” Background I had computerized L. C. (Mac) McCall’s book: “Robert and Mary Lanier McCall - South Georgia Pioneers and Some of Their Descendants”, and Mac had amassed additional research since the publication of his second edition. We had agreed to collaborate on a new book combining his efforts with my research and the computer ability I brought to the venture. With Mac’s sudden passing, his daughter, Mary Ann McCall, very generously made Mac’s research available to me and more than 1,800 additional McCall and allied family members were made part of this new compilation due to Mac’s efforts. Content Of special interest to descendants of Francis are source document copies that show how the Francis McCall of Mecklenburg, NC was misidentified as our ancestor some seventy years ago. Our Francis lived in South Carolina. Also worthy of note is how Ettie Tidwell McCall identified the children of Charles McCall and how our ancestry is based, not upon source documents, but on a Family Tree drawn by Rev. George Robert McCall in the 1800’s. A significant discovery impacting the family history is that the State of South Carolina has no record of Charles McCall serving as a Revolutionary Soldier and the early Effingham County land grants to Charles were not “bounty grants” at all; they were “headright” grants. Our early family facts have been misreported all these many years... This spiral-bound compilation is produced by Family Tree Maker software on acid-free paper and contains 565 pages. The report is indexed by name and contains McCall records from numerous sources. Also included are a bibliography and several reference material appendices along with many sketches of our pioneering forefathers. The compilation contains a report of known burial locations with an indicator of which tombstones have been photographed. Cost This is a not-for-profit venture. The book fee of $45 per copy is to help defray the expenses of accumulating and disseminating this information. Postage and handling are included in the fee.
