Well, as far as the theater question goes, my 1959 city directory says that the Rex was at 18 West Palafox, which is obviously a typo, since Palafox runs north and south. I think it should be 18 North Palafox. The Florida shows up as 186 N. Palafox. The Isis isn't there at all, but I think it was something like two doors away from the Rex. There is an Isis Building at Garden and Palafox on the northeast corner - probably named for the theater. SO the short answer is that there probably were two of them -the Rex and the Isis - right across from the San Carlos Dorothy
