Their descendants are scattered all over the United States, but many have remained in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi. If you are connected to this Merritt family, or think you are, this invitation is for you: REUNION INFORMATION: The Annual Merritt Family Reunion will be held on June 14th, 2003, starting at 9:30 A.M. and lasting until late afternoon. The location will be in the Frank Jackson State Park, which is located off U.S. Highway 331 North in Opp, Alabama. At the Opp Mizell Hospital turn West at the light and follow the brown recreational signs. Ask for the reunion location at the gate, or remember it will be at the scenic Campground Pavilion. We would love to meet and greet all of our extended family. This Gathering is held in "Honor of ALL Descendants of the Merritt Family." Please bring lawn chairs and a "filled" dinner basket. Don't forget to bring any old family photos, copies of genealogy material, or family stories to share with others. If you have musical abilities, a group, or just play an instrument, PLEASE come and make music for us. Well Hi - I don't have any of those surnames but was born in Opp, as was my mother. I was married at Napier AFB in SE Ala near Dothan. So I know the area. Just wanted to say Hi. It's so seldom I run into these areas on my computer.
