Subject: [MDQUEENA] Early Satterfield's Resent-Date: Wed, 22 Mar 2000 20:02:13 -0800 Resent-From: [email protected] Date: Wed, 22 Mar 2000 23:08:41 -0500 From: "Satterfield" <[email protected]> Reply-To: [email protected] To: [email protected] Elizabeth Dixon, widow of John Dixon, in her will proved 6 June 1717, left 100 acres, part of a tract called "Winfield" in Tully's Neck, to William Satterfield "the young man which my husband and I raised from infancy." This Will is witnessed by a James Satterfield. A James Satterfield is mentioned in a Kent County DE land transaction in 1718 as being a cousin to a James and Margaret Jackson. James Satterfield's wife name is given as Mary. What is the relationship between William and James Satterfield? To which of the Jackson's is James related to? William Satterfield died in 1748 and his will mentions wife Dinah, children William, Nathaniel, Thomas and Alice. Nathaniel may have married Sophia Young, James b. 1735 probably married Margaret Mead, Thomas b. 1737 may have gone to Edenton, Chowan Cty., NC and Alice may have married William Sylvester. Other early Satterfield's were Edward and Nathaniel. An Edward Satterfield is mentioned in a Q.A. Cty. road order in 1709. He lived around Queenstown. Possible children of this Edward are: Edward who married Mary Barkhurst and Margaret who married James Glandon. There were probably more children. Nathaniel b. abt 1712 married Mary Tennent. In the 1760's, Nathaniel sold his land "Satterfield's Venture" and moved to Mispillion Hundred, Kent Cty., DE. What is the relationship between Edward, Nathaniel, William and James? Richard Bennett III's Will of 1749 mentions Edward, William, Benjamin, John and Joseph Satterfield. There is a story that a Benjamin Satterfield was a prisoner in London who Richard Bennett brought to Q.A. Cty. as an indentured servant. Does anyone know if any records still exist of people Richard Bennett imported as indentured servants or workers? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Janet Satterfield mailto:[email protected]
