    3. Maura, The FINAL deadline for submitting stories and for presales for the FL Escambia County Heritage Book has been set for March 31, 2003. There will be no more extensions of time. Basically, you may submit 1,000 words and two photos for free for families in the county before 1890 and 500 words and one photo for free for families after 1890. Stories should be in narrative format, double space unless they are typed on a computer. At the bottom, put the (word count) Submitted by ( name and address) Written by (name and address) Sources (optional) Photo captions (10 or fewer words) The title and the name and address, etc., do not count in the number of words--just the body of the story. If you submit more than one story, you must have submitters from different households for each story. They may be your children or other relatives. You may be the writer for more than one--just not the submitter. Mail stories and/or checks to Escambia Co. Heritage Book Committee P. O. Box 30463 Pensacola, FL 32504-1463 If you will send me your address, I will send you a brochure. It has all the nitty-gritty details. Write if you have more questions. Cynthia Dean, Chairman Esc. Co. Heritage Book

    3. Maura, The film copy machines at the Pensacola library still take only nickles. Don't use the one to the far left by the wall. It gets the money hung up all the time. They don't have any more early newspapers. Try UWF, 2nd floor. Ask Judy Jolly about the Fisher-Pou records. UWF is in the process of copying them. Not sure what the library has at this point. Earlier marriage records are now at the Archives of the Clerk of the Court on Blount St., 2nd block east of Palafox, not at the Court House. Cynthia

    3. I'm just getting back into my Pensacola research and would like to know if any changes have been made to procedures at the Genealogy section in the public library before I go (do the film copy machines only take nickels still? Did they get any other dates for the gaps in the newspapers? do they have the films for the Fisher-Pou records or just the indexes that are online?) Also, I'm thinking of going to the courthouse for wills and marriage info. Are copies of marriages there still $1? Is it best to go at the beginning of the week or towards the end?
