    3. Thanks for the update. Betty Mitchell Busch -----Original Message----- From: Cynthia Dean [mailto:cgdean@bellsouth.net] Sent: Monday, February 09, 2004 5:04 PM To: FLESCAMB-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [FLESCAMB] Escambia Co. Heritage Book On January 13, the publisher told me that Escambia would be the first book off the press in 2004. He projected the end of February, and that's what I had told some of you who had written, recently. However, at a meeting with him last Friday, he would not give a specific date and said just to say "spring." We did see a printed copy of the digital version that will go to the printer and approved it, so I hope it will go this week, or soon. It's a good book. It looks good, and I think everyone will be pleased. Be patient just a little longer. You will get a letter from the publisher telling you when it is to be mailed and distributed. If you have further questions, write to me directly. 3. Works for me but only after I switched off my pop-up stopper program. If you have one of the many versions of pop-up stoppers on your computer, be sure to turn it off or you won't get the query window. That's why I couldn't get the program to work for me yesterday. And my pop-up stopper wasn't set to alert me that it had killed an attempted pop-up from the web page. 3. I wrote to "Stuart E. Hamilton" <shamilton@uwf.edu> for this information. He sent me the attachment. go to <http://haasgis.cob.uwf.edu/website/cem/> When the map 1st draws (wait for it to finish) left-click once in the middle of the map. Wait for the map to redraw and left-click once again in the middle of the map. The names should appear. Click again if they do not. Use the hand icon on the left (left click and hold the mouses button down and move the mouse to pan) to move around and view the names. The easiest way to find a single person it to click on the query button on the left. When the query window pops up change the field to LAST NAME. Then hit samples. A selection of names (far from all of them) will appear In the Sample Values Box. Hit add query to string and then type in the last name you want. ( (be sure to scroll to the end of the string of samples then change the last name to the name you want) Hit execute and it will return records. Clicking on the number next to the name and you will be taken to that grave. To find all names use this query and last name "ZZZZZZZZ" be sure to use the " " around the name. If this does not work write to me and I will send the attachment. Helen

    3. If the seekers are in town the microfilm at UWF would be very helpful. I know they have baptisms and marriages, and am unsure about the deaths. The Resource center downtown may have a copies. The old ones are difficult to read. They can contact Katrina or Dean at UWF Special Collections for more info. But don't think they will do lookups. kking@uwf.edu or ddebolt@uwf.edu ----- Original Message ----- From: "sheila martin" <sheilam78@comcast.net> To: "L.L. 2. Thank you everyone for helping me in my search for my gr uncle George ZWEIFEL. He did not live in Pensacola but was traveling around the country at the age of almost 21 seeing the sights. He was working along the way, so I heard, and when he arrived in Pensacola, he must have been hopping off a train & had an accident from which he died, there at the Infirmary. His family lived here in southern Ohio & it was not feasible to send his remains back for a funeral so he was buried there. A kind soul from RAOGK found the piece in the paper & I have written for his death certificate which might tell where he was buried. Could be the Potter's Field but I'm told there are no records for that cemetery. Anyway, Thanks again, Emily

    3. I think the older book by Bruington might be more helpful, than some of the newer versions as there has been so much vandalism and weather damage at St. Michaels since her work in the 1930s.

    1. [FLESCAMB] Re: St. Michael's
    2. Dear Arlene, I'm so sorry as it seems that I've misled you. About a month or more ago, I was searching for my uncle who died in Pensacola. I went to USGENWEB, Florida, Pensacola, cemeteries, then St.Michael's. I actually searched by last name & they even had the possibility of searching by first name. Then I e-mailed them to verify that I had searched correctly as I seemed to have some difficulty. Someone e-mailed back that I was correct & that my uncle was not listed. Now when I try to find that site, it is there but has been changed & I am not able to search as I did before. And when I click on the e-mail address, it comes up, not available. So I don't know what's going on. Makes me think I've lost my mind!!!!! Again, I'm sorry to have gotten your hopes up. I think we will have to rely on those folks who have books, at least for the moment. Maybe they are working on their site & it will be back up again soon. Emily
