would your mother have any memories about the Children's Home Society or their charges? This would of been about 1930. I am trying to find info about my mother. She died in 1997. ----- Original Message ----- From: <EWillis104@aol.com> To: <FLESCAMB-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 01, 2004 5:51 PM Subject: Re: [FLESCAMB] Re: FLESCAMB-D Digest V04 #41 I didn't live in Pensacola (Escambia County) - and I don't now - but my dad had an office there for many years - so I was a regular visitor to Pensacola. I have lots of memories that I can write about. In fact, I have some of my deceased mother's memories, too - as she wrote many of them down. She didn't live in Pensacola - but often visited her cousin and even worked at the Walgreens downtown on Palafox. So keep me posted on what your plans are. Would it be possible to start a separate list, please, for Pensacola Memories. Cynthia

It was someone's question that started the last round of Pensacola Memories. Maybe that could be the basis for future Memories contributions. Someone put up a topic, and those who have something about that topic could send it in. This round started with the question about the movie theaters on Palafox Street in downtown Pensacola - where was the Florida, Isis, Rex theaters. An older topic that Evan Strohl got excited about and researched was the turn of the century and early 1900's Kupfrian Park area around Baptist Hospital where he worked. Someone else wrote about the Pensacola Beach Pavillion. Does anyone of the more recent generations have Memories of the Fiesta of Five Flags parades? There are plenty of topics !! Right on, with the Writing On !!! If anyone is interested in this let me know. Jink, I have memories up to about 1957 which was the last time I lived in Pensacola -- age 16. I think of them as "recent" memories but on evaluation see that they are almost 50 years ago so getting close to antique. <smile> Take care Marilyn
Jinx, Sounds good to me, let me know when, what and so on. I will start writing some down. Pat
This is NOT to make money. I would like to make a book of our memories and print them out. If anyone is interested in this let me know. I can put together in Word and then send out for you to make your own copy. Jinx Nall Dopson
There are at least three cemeteries near Pine Barren. See Big Pine Barren, Little Pine Barren and Morgan cemeteries on this list. http://www.rootsweb.com/~flescamb/cemproj.htm Joan (Polly) Powell gunnlass@bellsouth.net
Not really a whole lot there. I believe there is an old cemetery close to it on Hwy 29, I know it has an old section because I look at it everytime I pass. Just too hot here to do anything right now. > > From: "indiangirl" <gizron@cyou.com> > Date: 2004/07/22 Thu PM 08:34:32 EDT > To: FLESCAMB-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [FLESCAMB] pine barren > > that is where i am talking about that is where my da was born. > > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial. Does anyone out there remember the A V Clubbs School (not sure of the spelling) from 1930? Would like to see a yearbook or school paper from that time in hopes of finding some info about my mother. Her first name was Rosa Lee but not sure of her last name. Also is there anyone out there still alive that might have been in the Children's Home on E Jordan Avenue during that time?

Below is the url to a website of an artist that has a painting of the old Rex Theatre. I happened upon this website entirely by accident, and have no connection with it, or the artist. Arlene Gallery # 1 http://www.willowsstudios.com/gallery_.htm
I think it was about 20 miles to Gulf Beach...Used to go swimming there...I have not seen that area since 1989. When I did go there it was all very different. Pat
