Looking for information on my gggrandparents, Henry Kierce and Honor Hinote. Henry Kierce was born January 8, 1846 in Baker Co., Georgia and Honor Hinote was born May 11, 1850 in Escambia Co., Florida. They were married in 1866. Looking for Honor's parents in particular. Thanks. Vanessa Kierce Burzynski
I have an original picture (11x14) of my great great grandmother, Sarah Jane Turner/Kennington/Rayburn. She was born in 1843 and died before 1880. She lived in Walton Co.,FL. and is buried at the Sandy Creek Church cemetary. I would love for a story about my ancestor to be place in a book. She was also the great grand daughter of Chief William McIntosh of Georiga. This would be an honor to me and my family. Ginny, I tried the link to the Pensacola Family History Center but all I got was a page that had that name on it and no way to go any further. Do you know if this is their problem or mine? Hi all, I work for a textbook publisher in Orlando and we are searching for a family portrait of an early FL settler, preferably a woman. We would like to reproduce a portrait as a full-page Chapter Opening photo. The problem is that we want something very early - as early in the 1800's as possible. Of course, this will not be a photo but perhaps an oil painting, sketch,or what do you have? This book is a school textbook for fourth graders to learn about the history of their state. A nice reproduction fee will be paid if we use your portrait and a piece of your family history will go into a FL history textbook! Please contact me via email if you have any possible family paintings that might work for us. Thanks. Nancy Harcourt School Publishers Orlando, FL
There have been so many files and pages added to the Escambia Co. GenWeb site since it was started that I have made a site map page to make the files easier to find. (You will still need to go to the main page to see what has been added). The site map is at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~flescamb/sitemap.htm Check it out to see if you have missed anything. Also, if you find any links that don't work, please let me know. I have tried to check them but could have missed some. -- Ginny Deagan - Pensacola, FL Tom & Ginny Deagan's Home Page: http://www.pcola.gulf.net/~gdeagan An Index to the Genealogical Web Pages that I have Online: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~vgdeagan/index.htm My New England, New York and Pennsylvania Families Escambia Co. A new page has been added - "An Account of Clothing, Arms, Horses, Accoutrements, Etc. For the West Florida Royal Forresters - 1780." which gives a glimpse of British West Florida during the Revolutionary War period. This file was contributed by Kevin Wisener of Ottawa, Canada. Also, a page has been added which lists the Precinct 13 Pensacola Voters who signed a petition to the Board of County Commissioners for license to sell liquors, wines and beer in the county of Escambia from the 1st day of March, 1889, to October 1st, 1889. I wish I could include the author of this, but I dont know who wrote it (it was passed on from another list), but whoever you are..thank you! Dating Tombstones One way to help find the era your ancestor was buried is to examine the material from which the tombstone is made. If your ancestor has a stone made of slate or common fieldstone (except wood used by pioneers), chances are the stone dates from 1796-1830. * If the stone is flat-topped hard marble, dates are about 1830-1849. * If the "mystery" stone is round or pointed soft marble with cursive inscriptions, look for a date of 1845-1868. * Masonic four-sided stones began in 1850 and are still in use today. * Pylons, columns and all exotic-style monuments are usually dated 1860-1900. * Zinc monuments date from 1870-1900. * Granite, now common, came into use about 1900. If the writing is too faded to read, use a 75 watt black light bulb in any lamp that casts light directly on the written message. The writing will miraculously appear.

Nadine I am a cousin of Janet Kessler, second cousin, I believe. I am also researching the Joiner/Joyner line from the Chumuckla, FL, Santa Rosa Co., area. Janet already has all my information, so this will not be anything new to her. My grandfather was William Joyner, who married Gladys Cobb. They lived in Chumuckla and raised 10 children: Opal, George (GW), Harold, Maxl, Jack, Ottis, Dula, Dottie, Linda & Joe. Opal is my mom. I know my ggfather, William Joel Joyner, was fr. AL, as was his father, Joel Joyner (who was found in Conecuh Co., AL federal census in 1860). Beyond that we have drawn a blank. Do you have any other information on this line? I would appreciate any help I could get from anyone with knowledge of this family. TIA. Peace and blessings. <>< <>< <>< Until next time....Christine in Northwest FL Nadine Heath wrote: > > Janet, > Yes, I was responding to your message about the Joyner and Nelson, I am > related to both from Chumuckla, Jay, and Milton .
