    2. Guy Sitler
    3. Hello, I am looking for information on Emanuel Niel and his parents. Birth Place: Pensacola, Florida. Birth Date: July 30 1830. Father's Name: Anthony Niel Father's Birth Place: Cadiz, Spain Mother's Name: Anita Velero Mothers Birth Place: Mexico Are there any birth records or marriage records that might have this information? Emanuel Niel ended up in St. Louis, Missouri. St. Louis is where he lived the rest of his life. Pensacola is about 200 miles from New Orleans. Did many people travel to New Orleans from Pensacola? Did these same people head up the Mississippi River to St. Louis in those days? Thanks, Guy Sitler

Very valuable resources for those of us with leads in Jefferson Co. The back pages of Vol. II has a map of the county with a list from 1 to 214 of the cemeteries in Jefferson County, Alabama plotted on it. It also has a seperate list with a description of the cemeteries and directions on several pages after the map. However it is not a list of EVERY cemetery in Jefferson Co. If you need a lookup or two, I would be glad to help, or you could order the books from the Birmingham Genealogy Society. I find that Vol. I is the more productive for me. The dates and locations you are looking for would probably determine what is best for you. I understand that they will soon be out with Vol III. They are inexpensive, thorough, well laid out and definately productive. Regards, Bob Pensacola, FL >>

    3. Annie: I may have just a tid-bit on BRAY. My grandfather Joseph Jackson McGill Sr. with his first marriage with wife Mary Anna BURROUGHS and she had two sets of twins and one of them was Joseph Jackson McGill Jr. who married (#1) Willie W. BRAY. I think she was called "Washie". Mary Anna died right after the second set of twins was born. They lived in Baldwin Co. AL. They were married 3 July 1904. Her first set of twins was born 1881, the second set b. 1883 and she died shortly after. That's all I can tell you, well, except: Gerald Byrne was a Baldwin Co. county judge and I have an ancestor Gerald B. McGill apparently named after him. Also have another ancestor name Joseph Palmer McGill. That's really all I can tell you about your line(s). 3. MARIA BAIRD/JOSEPH BAIRD/1790's/Relationship to GERALD BYRNE and MCVOY families On LDS on-line http://www.familysearch.org there is a listing of a marriage with a MARIA BAIRD to "a" GERALD "BYRNS" abt 1796. I am a descendent of GERALD BYRNE and wf. ANN PALMER who (as far as I know) did not die until 1818 in MOBILE or BALDWIN CO AL. The family of GERALD BYRNE of IRE was in PENSACOLA and MOBILE before settling in BALDWIN CO AL where GERALD was murdered by Indians in 1814. I also noted that "a" JOSEPH BAIRD was listed on the ROSTER of MCBOY'S 14th REG'T of MS MILITIA in the WAR OF 1812 as was one of GERALD BYRNE'S sons. GERALD'S daughter MARGARET BYRNE, b.1783 ST.AUGUSTINE(?) married WILLIAM MCVOY(GUILLERMO MACABOY) my ancestors (m. abt 1799 Mobile?) OK-- Does anyone know WHO this GERALD BYRNS is in the LDS record and WHO the MARIA BAIRD listed was? I know there are many errors in these records, but also alot of good stuff too. But I am PUZZLED about this one! PLEASE if anyone has info BAIRD families of WEST FLORIDA TERRITORY or MISSISSIPPI TERRITORY ca. 1783-1820, I would appreciate any help. ALSO --always seeking info on MCVOY/MCBOY/MACABOY BYRNE/BYRN/BYRNS/BYRNES/O'BYRNE/O'BYRN etc. as well as PALMER, HERNANDEZ, HERNANDES, ALLMAN in the late 1700's to early 1800's. Thanks. 1. [FLESCAMB] Barron DeKaleb Rushing
    2. I found Barron D. on the 1860 census. Like Deborah said, " he was in Coffee county, Al ". but later moved to Pike County. Somehow these two families go way back, because Stephen and family were in Pike County Alabama in 1850, living with Fredrick and Mary Peace. then later moved to Barbour County. I said before that Charles Rushing was married to Mattie Kersey, and I meant Martha " Mattie " Harrell. They were married June 11, 1884 in Milton , Fl. Mattie must have been an older sister to Samantha Harrell Kersey. I know that Callie Harrell Soles is the sister of Samantha because I found her on the 1900 Escambia Census living with Ben and Samantha. The only thing that I have been able to find on the Harrells is back in 1860 in Barbour County, Al. I found Mary A. Harrell 44, Samantha 10, Byrd 3 and Ruth 2. Never did find out what happend to Ruth. did find Byrd Harrell age 13 living with Ben and Samantha Kersey in Barbour County in 1870. Then lost track of him. Family legend has it that he moved to Red Fish Point with the family and he is buried there. I can't find him on any Santa Rosa Census. He would have been long before Walter Turners children, so they wouldn't have know if he is buried in the cemetery. The Rushing's , Harrell, and Kersey's are all connected. Just have to put the puzzle together. Does anyone else know these families? Also I'd like to hear from anyone that is connected to my Carroll Family. Ain't this fun ??? Doris

Miller - Escambia county Date: 03/04/2000 3:52:08 PM Eastern Standard Time From: [email protected] (Tucker) At your convenience - I am looking for information on a John L. Miller who lived in Beulah, Florida. He is my great -grandfather. My grandfather was Charles Wesley Miller born December 1880. So I am assuming that John lived there before 1880. My grandfather told me that they left Beulah Florida around 1892 to move to Bayou LaBatre, Alabama and Jackson County Mississippi. John Miller's other children are Bessie Miller, Jack Miller, Joe Miller and Barnie Miller. I have no idea who his wife was. Any help you can give will be appreciated. This Miller family seems to be very secretative. Very little is known about them. Thank you so much for your time and patience. 3. Baron deKalb Rushing and his full-blood Indian wife, Serena, were my grandmother's grandparents. Serena was born in Tallapoosa Town, Coosa Co, in 1828 (source: death cert of daughter, Mary Anna Phoebe Rushing White, wife of Joseph, son of Levi W. White and Elizabeth S. Bruster) and Baron was born in Montgomery Co, AL, in 1828. They married in 1848 in Pike Co, living later in Coffee Co, and dying in Walton Co. They're buried in Euchee Valley Cemetery near Euchee Anna. One of Baron's brothers was an Alabama Senator. I think Charles D. was the son of Samuel Rushing, in the Santa Rosa Co (1860, I think) census listed as "Mariner". ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, March 01, 2000 3:52 PM Subject: Re: [FLESCAMB] Benjamin F. 1. Re: [FLESCAMB] Benjamin F. Kersey
    2. we have many stories of indian ancestors. I have found the name Kersey in a lot of tribes, but ave failed to connect----Yet ! There are to conflicting stories but both entertwine in some parts. one story is ; Stephen was an indian orphan ,raised by a white man and educated to be a doctor. Stephen married a Mary Melinda Peace. The other story is that Stephen's family came from Scotland, and Stephen was sent back to Scotland to be educated at Edinborough Medical School. While there, he met and married his wife Mary Mathilda Stewart. The only part that we can prove is that his wife was named Mary M. and he was a doctor. On the 1850 census, it has him born in SC. I always assumed that it stood for South Carolina. the other side of the family says " it stands for Scotland ". Does anyone know if it could be Scotland instead of South Carolina ? I believe that Charles Rushing married Martha ( Mattie Kersey ). I haven't found a Martha in my Kersey line. I printed out the Baron Rushing data and will work on it. thanks, doris
