    1. Re: [FLESCAMB] John Alexander Dixon
    2. Vanessa, Some of my information is different from yours and I am not saying you are wrong. I will give you what I have and maybe we can figure out what is correct. Here's what I have on Francis "Frank" Dixon b. 28 Feb 1822 Conecuh Co. AL d 3 Dec 1901 He was s/o John Dickson b. 1789 GA d 1856 Conecuh Co. AL and Martha "Patsy" Peavy b. abt 1784-1789 GA d 16 Aug 1874 Esc Co. AL. Escambia Co was cut from Conecuh Co in 1868 so they were still on the same land. Francis married Martha Ann Cobb on 7 Nov 1844 in Conecuh Co. AL She was b 2 Apr 1827 FL d bef 1883. I question your death date for her because Frank married Mary Jane Maine on 6 Jul 1883 Esc Co. AL. She had been married to Martha Ann Cobb's brother Stephen Riley Cobb. Frank's will was written 21 Jul 1900 and names her as executrix. Mary Jane married his brother Eli Augustus (my 2ggf) on 15 Nov 1906. I show Martha Ann Cobb's parents as Athal Seaborn Cobb and Martha McMellon. Frank and Martha's children were: Most of this information about the children came from my Uncle Abe's family Bible. 1. Sylvester K. b. 26 Sep 1847 2. Silverton M. b. 30 Jul 1850 (notice you show this as the death date for Sylvester) I believe you may be correct as what is left of the Bible is very hard to read and sometimes the deaths were listed separately from the births. My cousin thought that this was 2 different children but it looks like they could have been the same. 3. Florida A b. 25 Feb 1855 m on 19 Dec 1872 to Thomas Morrell. This is in the Bible. Where did you get the info that she married a Mims? 4. Frances Elizabeth b. 1859 m on 18 Feb 1874 to Francis Moody Dailey. She married her 1st cousin Wiley Benjamin Dixon (son of Eli Augustus) on 23 Dec 1880. This information is in the Bible. Please let me know what is correct in all of this. Nice meeting you, Judi

    3. Evan: You offer to do a look-up on the St. Michaels Cemetery. I've been trying to find out where Santiago DAUPHIN is buried in hopes of some information. In the 1830 census of west Florida he lived by himself, and I think getting along in years. No family was shown. He had a son by the same name, another son and 2 daughters I think. His wife was surnamed Pichol. Thank you for being there. 2. I would like to point out that it is important to respond to the Fleshcamb list in answering questions for people. Lately , I have been responding privately because of not cluttering up the board . However I did ( in order to see if anyone else could help another person ) respond to the list about John A. Dixon and it has generated a lot of e-mail. So if from time to time some of us oldies do ramble on, forgive us and keep reading, because somewhere in there is the answer to your question, or we will do our best to help you find it. Thanks, doris

    2. The Thomas Family
    3. Hi Richard, Well, I cannot say she isn't a daughter. I have put together a few names that I got from my husband's grandmother and have combined this with some stuff that I have found on the internet so I cannot guarantee complete accuracy but I will give you what I have. I am looking at my notes and I believe it is very likely that she is his daughter though because a Henry Albert Gates is buried right next to John Henry. Actually, the Whitmire Cemetery list that was posted on the Escambia County web site is part of how I was able to put my pieces together. This is what I have: John Henry Thomas b. 20 Nov. 1855 d. 18 May 1923 Son of William Henry Thomas and Rhodia Harper Married Tennessee Harper b. 10 June 1865 d. 19 Dec. 1914 Daughter of Joseph Malone Harper, Jr. and Roxy Ann Adkison Rhodia and Joseph Malone Harper were children of Joseph Malone Harper (who was born in Virginia and died in Coffee County Alabama) and Mariah Stephens. I know of the three sons but I do seem to remember grandma said there was a sister. If you want more on the sons or if you know anything about them, let me know. I got most of my Harper information from a very helpful site: http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/h/a/r/Mary-S-Harper/ I hope this has helped some. I am so happy to finally be able to help someone else since so many wonderful people have helped me in my search. I would love to hear about Florence's family. Let me hear from You. Sincerely, Jenny C. Thomas

    2. Would your Frances be the son of John and Martha (Peavy) Dixon/Dickson? They had 14 children: Claiborne, Abram (named for Martha's father), Berryman, Caroline (which is my line who married Joseph Jernigan), Susan, Chapell, *FRANCES, Jane (?), William, Virginia, Greene, John, Wade Hampton (who moved to Bastrop TX), and Augustus Eli. Do any of these names sound familiar? Don't know anymore beyond John and Martha Dixon...they came from GA originally and I am still trying to find them there...no luck so far.
