It was from me, Marilyn Thomas Hansen. I only recently joined the list but since all of you sound like good friends, I wanted to introduce myself. You can find me in Mona's request for help yesterday on the Arbona family (generation 5) My mom is 86 years old with a very sharp mind. She descends from quite a few early Pensacola settlers, Commyns, Bonifay, Rocheblave, Lavalle, Philibert etc. We lived in the house with my great grandmother, Theresa Rocheblave Commyns for a good portion of my early years. My sister, Barbara Thomas Deep and I are the hobby genealogists in the family. Our family house was on Barcelona St. (where it is now a parking lot). We attended St. Michaels school (no longer there) and Catholic High (no longer there). Does anyone detect a pattern here. I now live in Mississippi, and Barb is in Montgomery where my mom has moved in the last couple of years. She graduated from Pensacola High in 1931. If any of you have any relatives who went there about this time, she could probably tell you some stories about them. My dad is buried at Barrancas but all of our other relatives are in St. Michaels, except for a couple at St. John's. I'ld love to share info with any of you. Mona, There have been a couple of children added to that list since I sent it to you, a divorce along the way and a couple of marriages coming up. Take care all. Marilyn

Vanessa, Thanks for the offer of sending me a copy of the Bible records on Francis Dixon. I would love to have it even though I don't descend from him but his brother Eli. I have copied your post and will keep your info in my records. After reading your note on the 2 death dates for Martha Ann Cobb Dixon, I started looking at my records to see what I have documentation on. Here's what I have: Keep in mind that Escambia Co. AL was cut from Conecuh Co in 1868. I have a copy of the marriage records from Brewton, Esc. Co. AL for all Dixon marriages. I went to the courthouse and a worker xeroxed the Marriage books for me. In Book A page 175 there is a license for F.F. Dixon to Mary J. Cobb on 6 Jul 1885. I made a mistake in my last post and put 1883. My subsequent research proved to me that this was Francis F. Dixon s/o John and Martha Peavy Dickson. and Mary J. was Mary Jane Maine Cobb. I have a copy of the cemetery book "Headstones and Heritage's" for Esc Co. AL but I could not find where Martha Ann or Francis was buried. Do you know? I do not believe that Francis middle name was Marion. In some records I show his middle name to be Alexander but I at this time I can't tell you where I got that. His brother Berryman Dixon had a son named Francis Marion b. 1856. Can you tell me the first name of the Mims that Florida Alice Dixon was supposed to have married? In my Uncle Abe Dixon's family Bible he has the children of Francis Dixon listed. Since there are only a few pages left of this Bible I don't know why Francis family is listed or if there were a lot more relatives listed and the pages lost. It lists Florida A. Dixon married Thomas Morrell on 19 Dec 1872. I will be happy to research the books I have and see if I can come up with anything for you. Judi Hamm 7108 Joy Street Pensacola, FL. 32504 850-478-0491
Hello all. I am a new subscriber looking for information about Charles Slater. We have conflicting information as to whether he came from Ireland or Germany. A microfim search at an LDS site lead us down the path that he may have come in through Pensacola. Any matches or ideas as to how we could begin searching ship logs for his name would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Hi and thanks for the LeBaron info., was that you Mona? Where would I find this "History of Escambia County?" - or at least page 413. Is there very much LeBaron history there? We have information on the Joseph Murell LeBaron family (he married Florence Rosalie Rohmer), and on their son George Rohmer LeBaron. My aunt is 85 and remembers her grandmother Florence Rosalie very well. We just had a journey to Mobile and Pensacola investigating the Rohmer and LeBaron families there. Thanks again for the info. and, if anyone out there is related to Charles Leonard LeBaron the 1st we want to do something to improve his gravestone. And, we would like to find where his wife Mary Weaver LeBaron is buried. She must be right there with her husband, as she also died in Pensacola. If any one knows anything I sure would appreciate some help. Thanks, Carol

In answer to your question, Carol, I don't see Charles' wife, Mary Weaver LeBARON listed buried with her husband. In addition to Charles L. LeBaron, d. 1823, that I wrote you about, buried in the plot with him is: Leonard Le Baron, 22 Dec 1855 - 10 Jan 1943. Also in answer to your question, there is a C. L. LeBARON, Jr., died 8 May 1888, aged 66 years [pg 78, in another plot elsewhere in the cemetery]. Buried with him are several other LeBARONs, but alongisde him is Margaretta HOLMES, wife of Charles LeBARON, Jr. born Mobile, AL 30 Sep 1846 -- 23 May 1873, Pensacola, FL. Again, I don't see a listing for Mary Weaver LeBARON, his wife, in case anyone on the board here may know where she is! Can't answer you about restoration of the other stones there, tho I wouldnt be surprised if individuals (descendants) do that---I know of some who actually take a "current" interest in their ancestors' headstones, so it DOES happen. Write me "off the board" if you want me to list other LeBARONs--- there are about a dozen. (Anyone interested in cemeteries as I am, read today's News-Journal, page 1-C, about St. Michael's long-term plan to be professionally managed and cleaned! Hooray! 'Bout time, I guess.) Thanks, Carol, for you questions. Evan -----Original Message----- From: Evan R. This John is the John Lydall Dixon I mentioned. I found the Dixon history at Bladen Co Library. They moved to Augusta, Richmond Co, GA, before Alabama. I'm from Santa Rosa Co, currently living in Craven Co, NC. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, March 10, 2000 9:07 AM Subject: Re: [FLESCAMB] John Alexander Dixon > Would your Frances be the son of John and Martha (Peavy) Dixon/Dickson?
