    3. The earliest City Directory at the Public Library is 1885 but there are gaps for the first several years. 1885 - 1916 (some gaps) 1931, 1934, 1936, 1940. 1944-1992 (excluding 1945, 1951, 1953, 1982, 1983, 1990.) They are on 3 microfilm rolls at the Library. The earliest directories are too fragile to handle or to copy. There may be others at the Historical Society and the Family History Library has filmed some. 1903,1905,1907,1908 Film #1844001 1909, 1910, 1911, 1913 Film #1844002 1916, 1919/20, 1924 Film #1844003 1927/28, 1931, 1934 Film #1844004 1921/22, 1934, 1940 Film #1425683 -- Ginny Deagan - Pensacola, FL Tom & Ginny Deagan's Home Page: http://www.pcola.gulf.net/~gdeagan An Index to the Genealogical Web Pages that I have Online: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~vgdeagan/index.htm My New England, New York and Pennsylvania Families Escambia Co. 3. I live in NC and found this on a rootsweb email list for Queen Anne's Co Md. I am not connected to the Dixon's as far as I know, but recalled seeing a bunch of postings for that name in the Pensacola listings. Didn't know if it could help, but thought I'd fwd. I'm sure that list participates in the threaded archive system so you can look up the previous postings. Also, you can try "interlibrary loan" program, if it is not available where you live. Also, try contacting the person who sent the posting to the MD list. Good luck! Bonnie [email protected] wrote: > Do you know if this book is at the library?

    3. Subject: [MDQUEENA] Early Satterfield's Resent-Date: Wed, 22 Mar 2000 20:02:13 -0800 Resent-From: [email protected] Date: Wed, 22 Mar 2000 23:08:41 -0500 From: "Satterfield" <[email protected]> Reply-To: [email protected] To: [email protected] Elizabeth Dixon, widow of John Dixon, in her will proved 6 June 1717, left 100 acres, part of a tract called "Winfield" in Tully's Neck, to William Satterfield "the young man which my husband and I raised from infancy." This Will is witnessed by a James Satterfield. A James Satterfield is mentioned in a Kent County DE land transaction in 1718 as being a cousin to a James and Margaret Jackson. James Satterfield's wife name is given as Mary. What is the relationship between William and James Satterfield? To which of the Jackson's is James related to? William Satterfield died in 1748 and his will mentions wife Dinah, children William, Nathaniel, Thomas and Alice. Nathaniel may have married Sophia Young, James b. 1735 probably married Margaret Mead, Thomas b. 1737 may have gone to Edenton, Chowan Cty., NC and Alice may have married William Sylvester. Other early Satterfield's were Edward and Nathaniel. An Edward Satterfield is mentioned in a Q.A. Cty. road order in 1709. He lived around Queenstown. Possible children of this Edward are: Edward who married Mary Barkhurst and Margaret who married James Glandon. There were probably more children. Nathaniel b. abt 1712 married Mary Tennent. In the 1760's, Nathaniel sold his land "Satterfield's Venture" and moved to Mispillion Hundred, Kent Cty., DE. What is the relationship between Edward, Nathaniel, William and James? Richard Bennett III's Will of 1749 mentions Edward, William, Benjamin, John and Joseph Satterfield. There is a story that a Benjamin Satterfield was a prisoner in London who Richard Bennett brought to Q.A. Cty. as an indentured servant. Does anyone know if any records still exist of people Richard Bennett imported as indentured servants or workers? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Janet Satterfield mailto:[email protected]

    1. [FLESCAMB] ON BEING CIVIL TO EACH OTHER===
    2. Evan R. Strohl
    3. Dear Board, Reference the latest rounds of discussion on the 2000 US Census: OK, everyone has an opinion---and is entitled to it. As a matter of fact, I think people's opinions are allowed on this Board, especially genealogy and related items. Why would anyone be so uncivil about someone else's honest opinion on this subject of the census? I would venture to say that each of us on this Board loves his country, and his genealogy, but the word "helps" is a very subjective term---means something different to each of us. If one wants to get ugly with someone, write a letter to the New-Journal about our OUT-OF-CONTROL School Board! ;=) Nuff said! (Doris, I may need you on this one, sister!) Evan

    1. [FLESCAMB] re:re:(indiana)census 2000
    2. Actually it does indeed matter. The census is not intended to be a tool for genealogy. The long form is intensely invasive (income, mortgage or rent amounts, etc., are not going to help decide how many schools to build), and in case you are unaware it is not always in the best interests for one to list a specific race. Ever wonder how the government got the names of many of the Natives and mixed families that were removed (yes, mixed families were removed too) and lets not forget the Japanese-Americans that were interred during WW2. God bless our country, but save us from the politicians, personal info is often used unwisely. thank goodness my ancestors ran for the hills when the census guy came around, I might not be here right now. If it means that I will never break through gggrandfathers brick wall, or ggrandmothers silence, so be it---they had their reasons. by all means, do fill out the census, it is valuable in governmental planning, but be careful what you write. The information is not made public for 75 years, and the information gathered is protected by law, but sometimes laws are changed (does...as long as grass is green, and the sky is blue ... ring a bell?). PS--stupit is as stupid does! You might want to spell check before you send, it greatly reduces your creditability as a writer to have that kind of error.

I have some names, but until I'm sure, I wouldnt want to mention names. Evan Does anyone else know the owners of the Bayview Cemetery??
