John: I have Flemings who came to Louisiana in the 1840s from Co. Cork, Ireland, via Canada and Boston, and lived in New Orleans and in Donaldsonville, in Ascension Parish, until about 1853, before moving on to Burlington, Iowa. The lead "player" in this was Michael Fleming, born in 1823 in Ireland, who married Bridget Maher of Kilkenny Ireland in New Orleans in 1850. I also have a Daniel Fleming, born in 1853 either in Louisiana or Burlington IA, who died in New Orleans in either 1899 or 1900 -- I have very little informatio on him.
