    3. Concerning Fleming migration - My Fleming line's earliest known ancestor was John FLEMING (we believe) who lived in Bald Eagle Twp, Northumberland Co, PA (now Clinton Co, PA) and died there in May 1777. One of John's sons, David FLEMING b. abt 1770 married Eleanor KING and settled in Erie Co, PA. We believe David died before 1819 as Eleanor then goes on to marry three more times while living in the Geauga Co, Ohio area. David & Eleanor FLEMING's son Samuel FLEMING (my ancestor) b. 1804 Erie, PA d. 1890 Polk Co, Iowa - can be found in Springfield, Sangamon Co, Illinois by 1830 - then moving on to Lee Co, Iowa by 1840 and finally settling in Polk Co, Iowa by 1860. He did not appear to move with other FLEMING families - unless they were females with different and yet unrecognized surnames. Another brother to my Samuel, Robert King FLEMING, went from PA>OH>IL. Robert King FLEMING settled in the Randolph Co & St. Clair Co. areas of Illinois. I think you will find as land opened up many families went together to settle an area while others, like my FLEMINGS, split up and went different directions to find there nitch in the west. While I haven't found my Samuel moving and migrating with other FLEMINGS, I am trying to find who he may have moved with as it is seldom anyone went by themselves. We think my FLEMING line is Scottish - coming from the Wigton area. We don't know the immigrant yet.
