Sorry, I've been out of touch for a time, and am just now getting my two cents in for the roll-call. Thanks for the opportunity. I am looking for the Fleming family of whom at least one branch ended up in the northeast corner of New Mexico in the Farley area. This is what I've been able to glean from various family members, and I have not yet had any success with the census records, although I am combing them carefully. If anyone is connected to this family, I would love to hear: Thomas FLEMING came from Scotland, don't know his birthdate, but it had to have been some time before 1870, and was probably even ten years earlier than that. We don't know where in Scotland, but apparently he came with several brothers. When he got to the states, he made his way to Belleville, Kansas where he met a young Swiss/German girl in the KUHN family. Everyone just remembers her as Grandma and I don't know her first name. She was 12 when she came to Kansas, and never learned to speak very much English. Thomas and his wife had 12 children, including: Kate/Kathryn Mary Agnes, m Howard SMITH Tom/Thomas Ben Robert William James, b. 1886, m. Sarah LEE Grace (who lived in Wichita, and who may have been married to a Mr. TROWER) Another sister who lived in California three more siblings who were not remembered, but were counted William J. FLEMING and his wife Sarah, along with Agnes Fleming and Howard SMITH and Sarah's sister Phoebe and her husband John ROGERS packed up their covered wagons and traveled to New Mexico along the Santa Fe Trail and homesteaded there in what is now Colfax County. Wm. J. and Sarah had: Harold, m. Janet FIELDEN Hazel, m. Hillary CHAMBER Rolland, m. Wynona Dale (never married, my source of information) Harold and Janet were my grandparents. Dale now has all three of the original homesteads and runs some cattle and dogs on the land. Any cousins out there?
