>So, I think the time is at hand for us to do a "Roll Call;" that is, >everyone send in their favorite FLEMING query. I believe we will be >surprised at what we can do to "connect-the-dots" of our family puzzles! Hi, guys: Well, my "favourite", in a way, is my stuck line. My great-graet-grandfather, James Fleming (1828-1886), emigrated to Ontario, Canada, from Scotland in August of 1834 aboard the Alfred of Alloway, along with his older brother Alexander (b1826) and his younger brother John (b1830), as well as his mother Lillias Gregor Fleming, now remarried to James Linn. His father, John Fleming, married Lillias 25 Sep 1825, in St. Cuthbert's Cathedral in Edinburgh. I am told that he was 33 when he died (obviously after conceiving the third son and before about 1833, since Lillias was remarried by 1834), and that he was a veterinarian who graduated from Edinburgh's Royal College, but the marriage registration lists him as a smith (possibly farrier?). I have some, inadequate, information about John's father's name, but my problem is mostly that there were at least 40 John Flemings born in the period 1795-1800 in Mid-Lothian County alone. Anyone have any further info or ideas on this line? Charles Fleming Edmonton AB CANADA T6C 2R9 780-463-8592
