Charles, the name Lilias interests me in that I have a Margaret FLEMING born ?Kirkliston ?1800 who married Robert BROTHERSTON 1823 Dalmeny (and Corstorphine) naming patterns would suggest that mothers (FLEEMING/FLEMING) name was Lilias and fathers name was James, although a few years early for your James this was the first time the name Lilias was used for the BROTHERSTONS. I'm not sure how common the name Lilias was early 1800 or if someone/some event had made the name popular at the time but a coincidence that can't be passed without comment.
