    1. ROLL CALL -- from your Listowner
    2. James Fair
    3. I am researching John R. A. Fleming. He was born somewhere in South Carolina about 1802 or 1805 (1850/1860 U. S. Census). I know nothing about him until age 36. About 1835-1836. while living in Montgomery County, AL, he sold some land to L. Marbury. He was the administrator for the estate of Eli Staples and married Martha Edwards on 4 March 1838. He was the administrator for the estate of John Hughes and the guardian of Alfred Hughes. All this and more while living in Montgomery County. Sometime between 1840 and 1847 he moved to Marengo County, AL. On 23 December 1847 he married the widow Elizabeth Turner in Marengo County, AL. Elizabeth Turner had five children when they met and married: Martha J., Henrietta, Wm. A., Margaret A., and John W. They also had three children together in their own marriage: Washington Fleming, Mary Emma Fleming (my grandmother), and Robert Neely Fleming.. The 1860 Census shows them living in Carroll Parish (now West Carol), LA. The purpose of this posting as a part of the ROLL CALL is to ascertain information about JOHN R. A. FLEMING himself. Where and when was he born in South Carolina? Who were his parents? And where and when were they born? I would greatly appreciate any information anyone could pass along. Please reply by posting, by e-mail or by both. Jim [email protected]
