I have been looking for the parents of JANE FLEMING. She married JOSEPH CHAPMAN on 19 May 1803 in the Independent Congregational [Circular] Church in Charleston SC. I found no further FLEMING info in the published records of this church. Joseph and Jane Chapman's four known children -all baptised in the same church - were Joseph Chapman baptized in 1805 Sarah Chapman bapt in 1806 Samuel Chapman bapt born in 1808 [my ancestor] Perry Emanuel Chapmen bapt with his brother Samuel born in 1813 Joseph JR and Sarah apparently died young. Samuel and Perry were pilots out of Charleston. I suspect that Joseph Chapman was a descendant of the GILES CHAPMAN family of Newberry Co SC. Joseph Chapman SR died after 1816 when he was listed in the Charleston City Directory and before January 1821 when Jane as his executorix sued one William Burnet After Joseph Chapmen's death JANE FLEMING CHAPMAN married PETER PORTER.
