Dear All, I just joined this list as of Mon. Actually i am not looking for any one in particular. I do have some informationabout the early arrivals in VA. Also I have a list of sources and contacts with other "cousins" fwho have some complete information. My connection is as early as 1700. The nice thing is that anyone who can find their ancestors to ththose early dates now have a shot at finding some very interesting info. The Fleming Clan was connected to the Douglas Clan. They were knights and nobles during the reign of the Stewart (Stuart) Kings and Queen Mary. One of there number married the illigitmate daughter of James IV and his cousin. This doughter (Janet or Jean or Jennie) was Mary Queen of Scot's governess. Janet's daughter was named Mary and was one of the "Four Marys" who were the Queen's "ladies in Waiting" until they married. Lord Fleming (Janet's oldest son) continued to be a loyal supporter of the Queen until her excile and captivity in England under the riegn of Elizabeth I. Fleming is associated with Larnarkshire of Scotland. The Flemings were the Earls of Wigton (Wigtownin?). That is all I have for now. I have some sources but they are other geanealogy serchers like we are. It does give one a track to run on, anyhow. Cheers, Wilma Kelly
