    1. [FLEMING] Fleming House
    2. I went to a "Moveable Feast" today featuring the author, Gordon Bubber Jenkinson, who wrote the book "A History of the Homes and People of Williamsburg District". Bubber's book features fifteen of the old Williamsburgh plantation houses and some of the history of the early settlers who owned them. I was surprised to learn that he and his wife bought the home of John Fleming that was originally located about five miles east of Kingstree on a tract of land granted to John Fleming on June 26, 1734. They moved the house into Kingstree and restored it. Some of the other houses featured in his book include Thorntree built by James Witherspoon, and the Witherspoon house built by Samuel Witherspoon.
