I was born and raised in West Carroll Parish, Louisiana just out from Oak Grove. I am a direct descendent of John R. A. and Elisabeth Fleming. He was born somewhere in South Carolina between 1802 and 1805 (US Census). I pick him up in Montgomery County Alabama in the 1840 Census married to Martha Edwards. I have the mariage license. He moved to Marengo County Alabama where he married Elisabeth Turner (maiden name unknown) a widow with five children. I have this marriage license also. They had three children between them, one of whom was Mary Emma Fleming, my grand mother. They moved to West Carroll Parish where both parents died leaving three orphaned children.
