I read in a history book in the Ravenswood Library, "....Lawrence Lane came from PA in 1808 and built the first cabin where Ravenswood now stands." and in another book "...coming in 1820 was Bartholomew Fleming and with him was Grandfather Lane, who was then, quite old." Grandfather, would be (Jacob) Lane, b. 1737 in NJ, and he was the father of Lawrence Lane, b. 1777 in NY. This Jacob Lane was the stepgrandfather to Bartholomew Fleming...which would have made the Fleming spouse of Lawrence Lane, Bart's aunt. The above posting of 16 Aug 2002, makes me believe that the my Lane/Fleming story is indeed true. To strengthen the evidence, I found in Meigs Co., OH, the marriage record of Eveline Seely & William Lane (s/o Lawrence), b. 1806 in PA. You have the marriage of B. Fleming & Elizabeth Seely recorded in the same county and the same year. I am speculating that Eveline & Elizabeth could be sisters. Any information and/or photos of these folks would be much appreciated, and of course I will gladly share my Lane information & photos with anyone interested.
