He was born in Newton County, Georgia approximately 1830 and died between 1866 and 1870. He married Clarissy Adaline Farmer in the the early 1850s and had 4 children, Sarah Emma 1857, Joseph M. 1860, Nancy W. 1863 and John James 1866. His wife, Clarissy Adaline was born in 1835 and according to the Census was alone with the children in 1870 and later died in December of the same year. Her children were raised by her siblings.
