Land is located in NE corner of Townshend, consists of 98 acres, and is under the encumberances of a mortgage in amount of $96.52, due to expire 1 Oct. 1813. Appreciation value of land is $460.00. Inventory is dated 6/22/1813, and is signed by James Shafter and Chester Dean. Widow is named as Tryphena Whitcomb. Thaddeus Alexander and Daniel Fuller are appointed to a committee to set off the dower. Westminster District Probate Court (Windham Co., VT), Vol. D, p. 595: List of personal items set off to Tryphena Whitcomb, widow of Cyrus Whitcomb, totalling $76.62. Also one third of the land. Dated 12/23/183. Signed by Thad Alexander and Daniel Fuller. LAND: 1818 Feb. 19, Townshend, Windham Co., VT, Deed Vol. 6, p. 338: TRYPHENA WHITCOMB, "single woman" of Townshend conveys land to TIMOTHY H. WHITNEY of Athens, for the consideration of $150. Land is located in North part of Townshend, part of land formerly owned by GARNER RAWSON, that was deeded by Rawson to CYRUS WHITCOMB. Land is all of that land set off to Tryphena by Probate Court of Westminster District as her one third of the estate of Cyrus Whitcomb. Land adjoins ABRAHAM TOURTELLOTT, ELIJAH ROBINSON and the highway. Plus, one other piece of land taken off the north end of the orchard formerly owned by Garner Rawson, containing about 1-1/2 acre.
