Her daughter Alice married James Kenny/Kenney in Concord, New Hampshire, USA. Honora then married Thomas Flemming/Fleming and had two sons that I know of: James born in 1871 and Daniel in 1873. They were living in the townland of Garryarthur. Their children were baptized in the RC parish of Glenroe and Ballyorgan. Baptismal sponsors for James in 1871 were John Casey and Margaret Flemming. I believe James came to the US and lived in Concord, NH, but Daniel stayed in Ireland. If he married, there might be descendants. Is anyone researching this family? Poole is a very common name in Southern Scotland... How certain are you that Albert "Alby" Fleming's wife was Lovise Thayer? Where did you find this? On the census records it appears to be Lovica...and they have a daughter named "Lousia". It seems likely to me that her name was probably Louisa. Where does the Thayer come from? In one census recor, I believe it's 1860 they have a 61 year old Susannah Thomas living with them (Albert and Lousia do). Do you know what the connection is? Could she be Louisa's mother? If a spelling change occurred, it was probably because clerk changed - in general the Colonists couldn't read and didn't know what was written. I would be very skeptical of any family story from Colonial times about Colonists wanting to change the spelling of their names (unless a lawyer advised them there was an inheritance due to people with a particular spelling). JAMES EDWARD FLEMING, 73, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008. He graduated from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA with a Bachelor of Science. He taught Mathematics at Howard University while pursuing a Masters Degree at American University. He was awarded the Doctor of Medicine Degree from Howard University College of Medicine in 1962. He completed an internship and first year residency in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent Charity Hospital, Cleveland. He then completed a two year residency in Internal Medicine and became Chief Resident at the Veteran Administration Hospital. "Dr. Jim" was a private practitioner who energetically and enthusiastically cared for the underserved communities in the Cleveland area for more than 30 years. He founded a multispecialty group practice in East Cleveland, which thrived over four decades. He served as Medical Director of Community Action Against Addiction; consultant for the United States Department of Health Edu! cation and Welfare-Bureau of Hearing and Appeals; and Medical Director of the Carnegie Care Center. He served as Medical Director at Ford Motor Company prior to his retirement. He was past President of the Cleveland Chapter of the National Medical Assn. He was a member of the Kent State University Board of Trustees and later Chairman Emeritus. He helped establish and served on the Northeast Ohio University College of Medicine (NEOUCOM) Board of Trustees for 15 years. He was awarded the Provost's Award for distinguished service to the Medical School. He received the Distinguished Service Award from his Alma Mater, Geneva College, in 1986. He was presented the Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, from Youngstown State University in 1988. He was conferred an additional Honorary Doctor of Laws from NEOUCOM in 1992. He was the beloved son of Mary and Homer Fleming (both deceased); brother of the following deceased: William, Homer Jr., Reoma and Mildred. He is mourned and survived by h! is long term companion, Ellen Berger, his three sons and their familie s: Dr. James Fleming Jr. and Linda Fleming, Christopher D. Susan is listed in the 1880 census for Hartland, Huron Co., Ohio, age 50, widow. Margaret J., age 13, single. Susan's husband was named James, and was born in Ireland. They were married 04 Sep 1865, in New Ireland, Albert Co., N.B. ANY information on Susan & Margaret after the 1880 census would be very helpful. Thanks for any help on this query.
