Hi, Kevin -- I'm a Flaming of German-Russian Mennonite background. My dad is Raymond FLAMING, son of Samuel FLAMING, b. 8 Oct. 1926? died 8 Jan. 1983. I was born in Hillsboro, KS (now live in Portland, OR), and Dad was born in either Lehigh, Goessel or Hillsboro. The Flamings are the branch of which I've researched the least, so I have little to no vertical lineage to share but I do have info on Dad's brothers and sisters and can put you in touch with a gentleman who has done massive research on the Hiebert and Goertz lines (my grandma Flaming's parents). Think I saw some other Flamings in the research he's sent to me, if you'd like me to look them up. Anyway, I'll have to do a little checking to see if the Flamings you mentioned are relatives, but I'm pretty sure they are. Julie Flaming

Is there a way to receive an overview of Fleming messages or to access the stored messages periodically on e-mail so that I can be selective in what I have to read. I really don't have time or want to have to read everyone's correspondence back and forth to each other. - Ed K. Edward Lay, ncarb Cary D. I saw the question earlier which mentioned John FLEMING in Clinton Co, PA so I thought this would be a good time for me to bring up my own questions. I have been told that my David FLEMING who is found in Erie Co, PA in the 1800 & 1810 census is a son of John FLEMING Esq. who settled about 1770 in Bald Eagle Twp. Northumberland Co, PA (now Clinton Co). The source of this information has died, leaving no documentation. According to a Will (dated 1 May 1777) left by John FLEMING Esq of Bald Eagle Twp - he did have a son named David. Does anyone know for sure if the Erie Co David is the son of John FLEMING Esq of Bald Eagle Twp. David FLEMING of Erie Co is said to have married Eleanor KING daughter of Robert & Elizabeth [McCullough] KING. Now....it appeared that the e-mail earlier tonight was refering to the John FLEMING of Bald Eagle Twp if so....I would be VERY interesting in obtaining more information about the William FLEMING who m. Mary MOORE and associated families. I have been running into so many Flemings with the same names in Pennsylvania that that I may be way off base here - any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Denise Crawford - Arizona
WILLIAM FLEMING d. 1728...came to America from Greenock, Scotland about 1690. First to Md. and in ca. 1714, to West Caln Twp. Chester, co. Pa. In 1700 he m. Mary MOORE (who had brothers John and Thomas MOORE) .who settled in Downingtown Pa. William and Mary had these known children. John, William, Henry, George, Peter, Mary, and Susanna. JOHN FLEMING had a son John who was a judge in Clinton Co. Pa. He was the co-executor of the will of John Donnel(l).....(my ancestor), whose wife was a MARY FLEMING. I am trying to extablish a direct link from my MARY FLEMING to this family. I would very much appreciate any bits of information that you may have on any of this family,,, named above, or any missing family members which I have not been able to find. Thank you Diane Graham, in Iowa
Just a quick note to anyone who might be researching Flemings in North Carolina or Georgia. I've just uploaded an update to my web page (http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/4145) of descendants of David Fleming, who was in Pitt County, North Carolina by at least 1777. Some of his descendants remained behind, and others -- including my branch -- emigrated to Dooly and Pulaski counties in Georgia. Thanks, and happy hunting. Joseph T. I am a descendent of Robert Fleming, b. 1772 in Dublin, Ireland, who married Elizabeth Stumbaugh, b. 1785 in PA. They married on 21 Sep 1809 in Washington Co., MD. I have seven children listed for them. I follow the line through Frederick. I need info on the other children of Robert and Elizabeth. I need info on any and all descendants of Margaret, Phillip, Wiliam, Robert Jefferson, and Lovina. I have nothing on Lovina/Lavina. Have some sketchy info on the others. I will be happy to trade info with someone researching these lines. Chris Fleming [email protected]
Does anyone see a connection with William McKinley Fleming or Sherwood Ramsey Fleming? William McKinley Fleming was born 15 Oct 1827 probably in SC. Abt 1842 he married Margaret Catherine Stroud in SC. She was born abt 1829 in SC. They moved to Arkansas where their son Sherwood Ramsey Fleming was born 5 Apr 1854 in Ft. Smith. In addition to Sherwood this couple supposedly had five other children but they all died young and Sherwood was the only one that grew to manhood. James McKinley Fleming supposedly died while they lived in Arkansas bet 1860 and 1865, possibly in the war. Margaret and Sherwood then moved to Walnut, Bureau Co. IL. Sherwood married Isabel Frances (Belle) Pyburn 11 Jul 1878 in IL. They had five children: Margaret, Jennie, Maude, James William and Raymond. Sherwood died 31 Dec 1890 in Walnut, IL. Sherwood's mother died 7 Jun 1894 in Walnut. Jack G. Watt
Greetings fellow researchers.... What follows is my direct line back to the last ancestor that I'm able to identify. Maybe some of you can help with my research as there are many branches of my tree that has seemed to end. My name is James Chris Fleming, b. 7 Aug 1955, m. 21 June 1975 to Palma Johnson, b. 17 Sep 1956. I have 2 children. FATHER - Clinton Fleming, b. 4 May 1926, m. 24 Dec 1943 to Lessie Mae Johnson, b. 7 Jul 1927. They have lived both in Pike and Letcher Counties, KY. They had 4 children GRANDFATHER - John Jefferson Fleming, b. 4 Aug 1900, m. 24 Apr 1919 to Bessie Ellen Stewart, b. 8 Oct 1903. Both were born in Pike County, KY.They also lived in Pike and Letcher Counties, KY. They had 12 children. G-GRANDFATHER - Solomon Fleming, b. 10 Mar 1961 in Pike Co., KY., m. 20 Apr 1883 to Easter Branham b. 24 May 1964. Solomon died 5 Aug 1925. Easter died 15 May 1939. They had 9 children. G-G-GRANDFATHER - "Fightin" Frederick Fleming, b. 1821 in Floyd Co., KY., m. 18 Jun 1940 to Nancy Anna Wright, b. May 1820 in Pike Co., KY. Fred died in 1878. Nancy died 11 Jan 1901. Robert died on 27 Dec 1850 and is buried at the mouth of Burke's branch, Myra, Pike Co., KY. Two years ago several of the Fleming family made up donations and put up a nice stone and fenced the gravesite. Elizabeth is believed to have died in 1869. Some accounts have her buried near Robert's gravesite and some say she was buried several miles away. I think no body really knows. G-G-G-G-GRANDFATHER - William Fleming b. abt 1700 in Ireland and never came to America. He married Virginia Buchanon. Accounts differ as to the number of children they had. I need help with a few of the children that branches off from the direct line, however I have lots of information on most of them... not all of course. I need help researching Robert and over into Ireland. Anyone having any information please let me know. Later I will post a list of surnames that I'm researching. J.
