Hi, I'm stuck! I'm looking for information on Capt. Alexander Fleming, born 24 May 1734, in Lancaster, PA, who married in what is now, Berkeley Co., Virginia, a Hannah or Margaret Jennings. Alexander went west and died in Pickaway Co., Ohio on 12 Sept 1821. Here are my elusive FLEMING ancestors. I can find no record of Robert in SC census records prior to 1870, although Robert reports that he and his parents were born in SC. This family was in the Spartanburg area of SC by 1880 and appeared to stay in the area until the last generation or so. They were mill workers by trade and married into both mill families and farming families. Hi Fleming researchers, I have a Thomas Fleming, born 1827 in Ireland, perhaps in Co Down, most likely in Ulster, who emigrated to Lanarkshire, then Ayrshire, Scotland. His parents may have been William and Martha, if naming patterns were followed. He married in May 1849 in Lanarkshire, Scotland to Margaret McIlraith, who was also born Ireland, c1829. Their children were: William b1850, Robina b1852 , Martha b1854, Thomas b1856, Mary b1858, Robert b1860, Jane & Margaret (twins) b1863, Elizabeth b1868, and William b1870.
