    1. Flemings in Mitchellstown, Co. Cork, Ireland
    2. Phil Fleming
    3. I am seeking information on John Fleming of Mitchellstown, County Cork, Ireland, who died in 1823 in Mitchellstown. His wife's name was Margaret, and they married about 1810 and had 7 children, the last being my direct ancestor, Michael Fleming, born in 1823 shortly before the death of his father John. I have no information on the Fleming family prior to 1810. John and Margaret had the following children: Mary, Ellen, Elizabeth, John, Bridget, and Michael. I have limited information on some of the children, and fairly good information on Michael and his descendants. Michael came to the USA via Canada about 1840, to Boston, then to Louisiana (New Orleans and Donaldsonville) before settling with his wife and Children in Burlington, Iowa. Some of Michael's descendants still live in and around Burlington. Several of the women (in different generations) became Roman Catholic Nuns, most of them joining the order of the Sisters of the Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The BVM's have a mother house in Dubuque, Iowa, and 2 or three are buried there. One is still in active service (in her 70's) in Maywood, near Chicago IL. I would like to make contact with anyone who can help me with any members of this family. I will happy trade information and sources that I have. -- Phil Philip B. 1. HANLEY/HENLEY Connection
    2. Midge Garza
    3. I've asked this before, but who knows, perhaps someone has run across the answer recently. Ann H. Garrison, daughter of Caleb Garrison and Sarah J. Fleming, b. 1804, GA, probably Franklin Co. Descendents disagree whether the H in her name is for Hanley or Henley. The Caleb Garrison book by John Ross and Quillian Garrison chooses "Henley." But who is she named for? We find no Henley or Hanley connection. But neither do we know our Caleb or Sarah's parents/siblings, so there may be such a connection unknown to us. If anyone knows of a possible Garrison or Fleming connection to either of those surnames I'd appreciate knowing. Ann was Caleb and Sarah's first daughter. Who might she have been named for. Caleb was b. ca 1775 in NC. Sarah, 1776, VA. Thanks. Midge Midge Garza http://www.specent.com/~mgarza/
