Rooters, All of a sudden many people are routinely sending file attachments to surname lists. PLEASE do not send attachments to entire lists. That practice is discouraged on email lists. I for one don't want attached files that I didn't ask for. PLEASE, post a general message. If anyone is interested in learning more about your particular line, they will ASK you to send them more complete file. Thanks, Midge Garza

Hi Flemings: Do any of you have access to New Orleans data? Such as obituaries and census data? I am especially interested in contacting anyone researching the 1860 census for the French Quarter area of New Orleans. And I need to contact anyone who could look up some New Orleans obituaries. I will pay for copies and cover postage (yours and mine)....... Of course this in regards to Fleming family research...... would appreciate any help you can give, Sincerely, Lynn
Researching a FLEMING family of Portage Co., OH. Thanks!!! David Stielow
I am just beginning to research my fathers family. He died when I was an infant. I don't have a lot of information and would appreciate any help from any one who might have more information on this family. Thanks. Jesse Sewall born June 30, 1873 in Overton County, Tennessee - died January 5, 1931. He married Nell Judd, who was born April 15, 1890 in Overton Co. - died May 18, 1949. They had two children: Charles Wilbur Fleming born June 11, 1914 in Overton Co., Tennessee - died January 14, 1957. He married Beulah Maxine Dillon, born May 2, 1928 - died October 29, 1965. There was also a daughter born to Jesse and Nell Fleming. Her name was Jesse Nell Fleming, born August 16, 1916 in Overton Co. Tennessee - died October 16, 1985.
I am intersted in any information anyone could provide on my great-great grandfather Jonathan Fleming who was born in Indiana 1836, and died 1890 Bates County, Missouri. Thanx in advance.. Albert A. Fleming (attachment follows)
Mike: Your Family line doesn't appear to be linked to mine but I found some information on a Lester Fleming, no birth date given, died December 1959 (which is close to your information). He was issued social security number 348-32-1139, and it was issued in Illinois. (info from SS Death Records). I found 2 Helen Flemings in the database who might meet your criteria. one (SS# 327-56-4395) was born August 27, 1890 and who died in September1982 who was living in Carbondale (southern IL) at the time of death, and the other (SS# 340-09-6921) who was born on March 9, 1893 (place not given) and died in January 1985 in Chicago. Both had social security numbers issued in Illinois and died in Illinois. These are the only two I could find in the 1980s. I used the criteria of being born before 1900 and dying in the 1980s in Illinois. I assumed, since Social Security numbers weren't issued until 1937, that your grandparents would have had their social security numbers issued in Illinois. Newman is a small town (about 960 people) in rural Douglas County, south-east of Champaign/Urbana. The County seat is Tuscola, IL You might want to contact the County Clerk c/o the Courthouse, Tuscola, IL to see what records they might have for births, deaths, and marriages. Good luck. -- Phil Philip B. "Phil" Fleming Canton, Illinois, USA [email protected]
My name is Mike Fleming and I am trying to trace my family roots. I know that my grandpa was Lester Fleming and he was born in Mercer county Ohio around Rockford. I am not sure when they moved out to central Illinois but it must have been in the early 1900s. They engaged in farming and Lester married Helen Martin. Lester died in 1958(?) and helen died around 1985. They had 7 children and they all grew up around Newman Il. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it. Mike
Hello, everyone. I am looking for information regarding my ancestors David and his daughter Elizabeth. Elizabeth FLEMING was married 11 May 1778 in Bedford County Virginia to Stephen PERROW. (Stephen FLEMING security.) The widowed Elizabeth Fleming Perrow married Bartlett WILEY 5 Apr 1792 in Campbell County Virginia. Elizabeth died ca. 1840 in Campbell County Virginia. I believe Elizabeth's father was David FLEMING, who died before 5 Oct 1789. Elizabeth had at least three brothers, one of whom was named Samuel FLEMING. FLEMING researchers, Sorry to post this to your e-mail, but I keep getting an "error" message from the rootsweb server folks telling me that one of our group members with the following address: [email protected] has a full mailbox and messages cannot be sent to them. I get this notification every time someone on our list posts information. Please, if your address fits the above, empty your mailbox. I have even tried dropping that person from our list but the address keeps popping up. Thanks, Bob Francis Listowner, FLEMING Surname group
Cousins, I spent the whole day at the LDS Family History Center and came up with a few tidbits that MIGHT have something to do with my Agnes FLEMING, wife of Robert BELL. The following entries are from the Scottish Church Records: Agnes FLEEMING Born 1707 Parents: William FLEEMING and Janet CLERK Location: Campbeltown, Argyl, Scotland Isabell FLEMING Born: 1707 Parents: William FLEMING and Janet Clerk Location: Campbeltown, Argyl, Scotland Agnes FLEMING Christening: 11 June 1707, Campbeltown, Argyl, Scotland Parents: William FLEMING and Janet CLERK Isabel FLEMING Christening: 11 June 1707, Campbeltown, Argyl, Scotland Parents: William FLEMING and Janet CLERK Other FLEMING family information: FLEEMING, James Birth: 11 Nov 1711 Campbeltown, Argyl, Scotland Parents: William FLEEMING and Janet CLERK FLEEMING, Catherine Birth: 10 Apr 1709 Campbeltown, Argyl, Scotland Parents: William FLEEMING and Jenat CLARK FLEEMING, Katherine Birth: 10 Apr 1709 Campbeltown, Argyl, Scotland Parents: William FLEMMING and Janett CLARK I'm not sure what to make of this information. It may have something to do with Agnes. We know that her father's name was William and that she was born between 1700/1710. The birth place has been listed as Edinburgh. I'm not sure if Campbeltown was a small nearby village. I have yet to find Campbeltown, Argyll (shire?/county?), Scotland. I look forward to your best-guess thoughts on the above. Bob Francis
