His father (no name listed) was born in Pennsylvania and his mother (no name listed was born in Louisiana Josephine - wife - W age 35. she was born in Indiana. Her father (no name listed) was born in Kentucky and her mother (no name listed) was born in Indiana. Roycee - son - age 5 he was born in Louisiana. I'm not sure about this first name. Does anyone know about the Robertson Co Tenn Flemings? I have a John Flemming who was on the Robertson Co census for 1820 and 1830 then in 1839 he sold some land in Fayette County from his home in Boliver Co Miss. Lynn, I have a Catherine FLEMING born about 1846 in IN, per the 1860 Decatur Co, IN census. Her parents (again, per census) were Shelby FLEMING and Rebecca ROE. There are several Archibald FLEMING's in IN, in the right place and right time period to be Shelby's father, but I have no connection yet. You also need to consider the slavery issue, given the time period and the states involved. IN did not allow slaves from the very beginning. I don't know very, very little about LA, but I would guess slavery was alive and accepted during that time period. It's hard to visualize someone moving to IN (away from slavery) and then moving to LA. But there are always exceptions! Hello Natalie and all, I am quite interested in your Indiana connections. Any brothers and sister mentioned with your Flemings?? I had George Washington Fleming married to Elizabeth there in1840 1850 1860 several children and moved about 1860 to Holt Co. Missouri. George was a top notch furniture carpenter until the war and then went back to farming as people could not afford his work according to information sent to me from Howard and Henry county done by a man from there for me so I have to look up the other information later and let you know if any interested or have a lead to this. Dear Lauren, The name Archibald Fleming caught my eye. My 4th g-grandfather was William Fleming born 1717 in Scotland and died in Kent Co., DE. He had a brother named Archibald. I have no information on him but Archibald has been a family name every since. Willian and Archibald also had brothers, John, Robert and probably Samuel. Do you think there my be a connection to your Archibald? My husband's ancestors also came from Ireland but settled in MD. Recorded in St. Finbarr's South Parish, Dunbar St., Cork City is the marriage of Arthur HOBBS to Anastasia FLEMING on 23rd, September, 1807. The first child born to that marriage was Samuel HOBBS, who was baptised on 3rd August, 1808. There were six other children of that family, the last baptised in 1825. A Michael CONDON, a son of Michael CONDON and Anstey FLEMING, was baptised on 19 February, 1832. Another child of the name Michael CONDON was born to the same Michael CONDON and Anstey FLEMING, and baptised on 11 March, 1843.
