Our family surname was originally FLEISCHER - our ancestors lived in and near the village of Ober-Seemen in today's Germany. Our immigrating ancestors arrived in Philadelphia in November 1752; since then, various spellings of our surname have occurred, including the original FLEISCHER, the "modern" FLESHER, and other variants such as FLESCHER, FLEISHER. I maintain a genealogical database of all known individuals of any of these spellings, whether nor not I can prove relationships to my line.
