Thanks VERY MUCH - Julie - for your great kindness in taking time to type out the items from the Spanish land grant info. I had forgotten that there was a reference about the Creek there - some years since I looked at these. But it does bring to my mind that one of the FL state agencies may have the maps that went with these translations. I shall have to look back to see where I got such maps many years ago. Your thought is a good one - that the creek is some where between Goodbys Lake/Julington Creek and St. Nicholas. But as I recall the topography, this covers a fairly large stretch. As I mentioned in another mesage to DI, I have a feeling that it was associated someway with Mill Creek, if not the same, though as I write this my geography of that part of South Jax is sort of vague. I very much also appreciate your asking the surveyor about this. This is not Mr. Cooker, is it? Years ago he was most kind to give me an old map of the beaches and Mayport. Many thanks again. Ed T of PGH, who at this time of the year wishes he was in Jax PS At one time, the library also had <hard copies> of both the unconfirmed and confirmed grant info... ---------- >From: Tony and Julie Howell <[email protected]> >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [FLDUVAL] Dewees Creek >Date: Thu, Feb 22, 2001, 4:16 PM > >hi edgar - in that book i've got, spanish land grants in florida vol. l >there is a reference to dewees creek. > >on page 254: > >Pritchard, Robert, Heirs of Unc.
