Thanks for all who replied. I did find the link to the Florida vital records site and proceeded to request the birth certificate. It did not take long to be told by the system I needed to be the parent, child or guardian to get a copy of the certificate. Somewhere in my genealogy ramblings in other states I recall reading a person had to be dead for 100 years before the birth certificate was available to the general public. Something to do with identity theft. Now, what about a person that was adopted in Duval County as a child. Are the adoption records in the public domain or hidden away in some adoption agency?
